John Glanville

In the name of God Amen, I John Glanvill of the Parish of Dorchester in the County of Oxford, Carpenter (and Chapman) Considering the uncertainty of this mortal life and being weak in body but of a sound and perfect disposing mind and memory Blessed be Almighty God for the same to make and publish this to be my last will and Testament in manner and form following. (That is to say) First I do give and bequeath unto my brother Richard Glanvill the sum of one shilling of lawful money of England. And I do give and bequeath unto my brother James Glanvill the sum of one shilling of like lawful money of England. And I do give and bequeath unto my brother William Glanvill the sum of one shilling of like lawful money of England. And I do give and bequeath unto my sister Sarah Maulling of Stadehampton in the County of Oxford aforesaid,the sum of one shilling. And I do give and bequeath unto my sister Mary Porte of Dorchester aforesaid widow the sum of one shilling. Now my will is that the said several legacies or sums of one shilling apiece by me as herein above given to them my brothers and sisters abovenamed shall be paid to them my said brothers and sisters within three months after my decease by Executrix herein after named. And I do give and bequeath unto my Kinsman John Glanvill son of my brother Richard Glanvill all and singalar my working tools of what kind or nature soever which belongeth or is of use in the Carpenters trade. And I will and hereby order that they be delivered unto him my said Kinsman John Glanvill within one month after my decease by my Executrix herein after named. And lastly as to all my stock and trade of malt and barley made and not made and all materials of all kinds thereto belonging and also all mortgages, bonds bills and book debts due to me whatsoever, together with all ready money and also all my household stuff and furniture of all kinds and also all my wearing apparel of all sorts, together with all the rest, residue and remainder of my personal Estate, goods and chattels of what kind or nature soever, I do give and bequeath the same to my Beloved wife Mary Glanvill and to be all at her will and disposal. Only my will is and I do hereby order and direct that my brother Richard Glanvill shall have my best suit of grey clothes given to him out of my wearing apparel above mentioned and ( one line missing ) my said wife notwithstanding is here expressed to be my will that she my said beloved wife Mary Glanvill shall deliver these my said best suit of grey clothes unto him my said brother Richard Glanvill immediately after my decease. And I do also hereby nominate and hereby appoint her my beloved wife Mary Glanvill sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the second day of May in the twenty fifth year of the reign of our Sovereign, Lord George the Second by the grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland King Defender of the faith (and so forth) and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty two.
