This is the last Will and Testament
of me Mildred Anne Glanvill of Great Queen Street in the parish of
Saint Margaret Westminster Spinster I desire to be buried in the vault
under Saint Margarets Church and direct that all myjust debts funeral
expenses and costs and charges or proving and executing the
trusts of this my will are fully paid and satisfied I give and bequeath
unto my niece Caroline Anne Bowles the wife of William Bowles
twenty pounds for her separate use independently of the debts rents
or arrangments of her husband and for which her receipt alone shall
be a discharge in order that she may provide herself with asuitable
mourning also independently of the debts contorl or of any arrangements of
her husband and for which the receipt alone shall be a sufficient discharge
my evening apparel chest of drawers silver chamber candlestick and a
*** my boots trinkets and ornaments of the person except my
said watch and gold chain and seals which I give and bequeath unto
my great niece Emily Ann Bowles to be delivered to her at such age
and time as my Executors and her mother shall think proper so that
the period be not delayed beyond the time of her attaining twenty one
years and should she die under that age and before the watch chain
and seals have been actually delivered to her then I give and bequeath
the same unto her sister Caroline Mary Bowles I give and bequeath
unto my brother in law Simon Stephenson Esquire twenty pounds to
my nephew Doctor Thomas William Glanvill fifty pounds to his wife
Mrs Catherine Glanvill ten pounds I also give and bequeath to my
great niece and Goddaughter Emily Stephenson ten pounds to be invested
with any other monies that may now or hereafter be standing in
her name in the books of the Governor and Company of the Bank of
England or in the name jointly with that of any other person or persons
for the benefit I also give and bequeath unto my great niece and Goddaughter
Emily Ann Bowles the like sum of ten pounds to be invested
with other monies that are now standing for her benefit in the Books
of the Governor and Company of the Bank of England in the joint
names of the said Simon Stephenson my nephew Edward Simon
Stephenson and the said Emily Ann Bowles and I direct that the
investment of the legacies so given to my Goddaughters Emily
Stephenson and Emily Anne Bowles shall be made within six calendar
months after my decease and that such investments shall without
any formal receipt or receipts be a sufficent discharge to my said
Executors for the said two legagies of ten pounds each I also give and
bequeath to my Great niece and Goddaughter Caroline Emma
Glanvill the like sum of ten pounds for which the receipt although she
may not have attained the full age of twenty one years shall be a
good and sufficient discharge I also give and bequeath
to my Great nephew Edward Simon Stephenson the sum of twenty five
pounds to my Great niece Emily Stephenson twenty give pounds to
Emily Stephenson the wife of my nephew Mr Edward Simon
Stephenson five guineas for the purchase of a ring in remembrance of
me to my Executors hereafter named the sum of twenty pounds each
as a small acknowledgement for the trouble they may be put to in
carrying into execution the trusts of this my will I also give and bequeath
unto my Executors and Trustees hereinafter named the sum of
five hundred pounds Bank: trust three pounds ten shillings per cent
annuities part of a larger sum of like annuities standing in my
name in the Books of the Governor and Company of the Bank of
England upon trust to transfer and place out the same in their
names or in the name of the survivor of them in some or out of the
public stocks or funds of Great Britain transferrable at the Bank of
England to to pay the interest and dividends thereof unto my said
niece Caroline Anne Bowles for and during the term of her natural
life to and for her own sole and separate use independently of and
not to be subject to the debts control or arrangments of her present or
any future husband and I direct that the receipt or receipts of the
said Caroline Anne Bowles alone given under her own hand after the
said dividends and interest shall have become on and payable shall
notwithstanding her present or any future coverture be a sufficient and
the only sufficient discharge for such interest and dividends or so so a
such or such part thereof as in any such receipt shall be expressed
to have been received and from and after the decease of my said niece
upon trust to pay the interest and dividends of such trust monies unto
or to apply the same for the benefit of any child or children of my said
niece living at the time of her decease either my accumulating the
some or any part thereof of towards his her or their maintenance
and education or otherwise arriving to the unqualified discretion of
my said trustees until such child or children shall attain the age of
twenty one years and when and as such child or children shall attain
that age then upon trust to tranfser or pay the principal fund equally
to and amongst all such children if more than one share and share
alike but if one then the whole thereof to such one but should my
said niece die without having any child or children her surviving who
shall have attained or who shall live to attain the age of twenty one
years then upon trust to transfer and pay the said principal fund unto
my nephew the said Edward Simon Stephenson for his own use and
*** his contingent interest in the said funds to be a vested interest from the
time of my decease and as to all the rest residue and remainder of
my estate proprty and effects of what nature or kind soever the same
may be I give and bequeath on equal moeity or half part thereof
to my said Executors and trustees upon the same trusts and to and
for the same ends interest and purposes as are hereinbefore directed or
shares of and concerning the before mentioned legary or sum of five
hundred pounds Bank three and a half per cent annuities hereinfore
given and bequeathed to them and I give and bequeath the remaining
capital equal moiety or half part of the residue and remainder of my said
estate property and effects unto my said nephew the said Edward Simon
Stephenson his executors administrators and assigns to and fore this and
their own absolute use and benefit and whereas having previously to
the marriage of my said niece Caroline Anne Bowles settled upon her
in addition to the fortune she was possessed of or intitled to in her own
right a sum of one thousand eight hundred and fifty pounds Bank
for pounds per cent annuites subject to the life estate of myself in the
interest and dividends thereof and which sum of one thousand eight
hundred and fifty pounds Bank annuities subject as aforesaid my aid
niece having assigned to the said William Bowles previously to and
contemplation of the said their intended marriage to and for this one
and benefit I do hereby devise my mind and will to be that writing
the said William Bowles nor any future husband of my said niece
be entitled in his own right or in right of this wife or of her children or
on any pressure whatever to call upon the trustees for the time being of
this my will or any or either of them for any amount relating to their
trust or other part of my estate and further that the trustees or trustee for
the time being of this my will shall be at full liberty to pay to my
said niece Caroline Anne Bowles as well the interest and dividends of this
before mentioned sum of five hundred pounds trust three pounds tens shillings
per cent annuities as the interest and dividends of the moeity of the
residue of my estate property and effects so as aforesaid bequeathed to a
than upon the trusts aforesaid if they or he shall so think fit by equal
quarterly or equal monthly sums at their of his discretion chid further
I declare my mind and will to be that if the said Caroline Ann
Bowles shall sell mortage assign or otherwise part with her life
trust in the before mentioned trust funds monies and premises or any
part thereof or shall attempt so to do then and from thenceforth the estate
and interest hereby intended to be *** to her for life shall absolutley
cease amd determine as though she was dead I hereby appoint my
brother in law the said Simon Stephenson and my nephew the said
Edward Simon Stephenson Executors and Trustees of this my Will and I declare
my mind and will to be that the trustee or trustees for the time
being of this my will shall have full power and authority to alter
tranpose and very the funds or securities wherein any part of my
property may be invested from time to time as they may see occasion
and if the said Simon Stephenson and Edward Simon Stephenson or
either of them or other the trustrees or trustee of this my will for the time
being shall die either in my lifetime or after my decease or be desirous
to be discharged from or shall decline or become incapable to act in all
or any of the trusts hereinbefore reposes in them or shall go to reside
out of Great Britain then and in either of the said cases and when
and so often as the same shall happen it shall be lawful for the survingin
or continuing trustee or the executors administrators of the
surviving trustee as the case may be by raiting under his hand and
seal to nominate substitute and appoint any other person or persons
except the said William Bowles (whom I hereby declare to be ineligible)
to be a trustee or trustees in the place or stead of the trustree or
trustees who shall so die or be desirous to be discharged from or shall
have become incapable to act as aforesaid or shall go to reside out of
Great Britain and that all and every such new trustee or trustees ***
and may in all things act in the management carring on and executing
the trusts aforesaid or any of them or thier aforsaid in conjunction
withthe former trustee who shall survive or continue as the
case may be as fully and affectively in all respects and to all intents
and purposes as though he had been orginally appointed on this
my will and that is trustee for the time being shall be chargeable
or charged with or accountable for any more of the trust moneies than
he shall actually survive nor or or with any loss that may happen
to the said trust monies and premises unless such loss shall be occasioned
on his wilful neglect or default nor for the acts receipts neglects
*ments or default of the other or them notwithstanding he may
have joined in signing any receipt for thh sake or conformerly and
further that is shall be lawful for the trustees or trustee for the time
being of this my will will and out of the trust monies and premises
or the dividends interest or income arising therefrom to *** retain
to and reinburse themselves respectively and to pay to this cotrustee
and any former trustee and the representatives of any deceased trust
all such loss costs charges damages and expenses as they or he or any
deceased trustee shall suffer bear peary or be put unto for or any reason on
means of the trusts aforesaid or any of them or the management or
execution thereof or any act matter or thin in any case relating there
and hereby revoking all other wills by me at ay time heretofore
made I declare this to be my last will and testament in witness
whereof I have to this my said will contained in five sheets of paper
set my hand this twenty third day of June in the year of our Lord

This is a codicil to the within written will of me Mildred
Ann Glanvill of Great Queen Street in the parish of Saint Margaret
Westminster Spinster whereas I have by my said will desired to be
buried in the vault under Saint Margarets Church now I do hereby
direct instead thereof that my Executors cause me to be buried in
Saint Margarets Church yard and if possible in the same Grave
with my dear father and whereas it appearing that the watch
chain which I have by my said within written will given to my
great niece Emily Ann Bowles is therein described to be gold I hereby
declare in order to prevent doubt hereafter that the same is so described
by mistake it being only gilt I hereby direct that my niece Caroline
Anne Bowles shall be at liberty and have power to appropriate with
the constent of my executors and trustees for the time being such consent
to be testified in writing a part of the trust monies whereof I have within
directed the interest and dividends to be paid to her for life for or towards
the apprenticing or otherwise placing out her sons Henry
Stephenson Bowles and Charles Gardiner Bowles to learn any professoin
trade or employment provided that the sume to be so appropriated
for or towards the apprenticing or placing out the said Henry Stephenson
Bowles do not exceed on hunder pounds sterling and for or towards
the apprenticing or placing out the said Charles Gardiner
Bowles to not exceed the liek sum of one hundred pounds sterling I
hereby nominate and appoint Jervis Robert Bellamy of ffridericks
place Graipckin (?)Road in the County of Middlesex Esquire to be an
Executor and Trustee of my said will in the room and stead of my brother
in law Simon Stephenson Esquire who had lately departed this life
and I declare and dreict that he the said Jervis Robert Bellamy ***
and be intitled to exercise all the same powers and authorities
and have an be intitled to the same benefit under my said will as if
he had orginally be named therein an executor and trustee thereof
instead of the said Simon Stephenson And I hereby give and invest
within named nephew Edward Simon Stephenson and the said Jervis
Robert Bellamy andn the survivor of them with the further power and
authority writing under their or his hands or hand to nominate
and appoint if they or he should think fit one or more person or persons
to be associated and to act with them or the survivor of them as trustee
or trustees of my said will and I invest the person or persons who shall
so nominated an appointed with the same powers and authorities as
if he or they had been originally named by me a trustee or trustees of
my said Will and I declare that he or they shall have and *** ***
to the *** and annuities as the said Edward Simon Stephenson and Jarvis
Robert Bellamy and I do hereby in all respects confirm my said Will
except so are as the same may be varied by this Codicil in witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand this seventh day of March in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four - Mildred

and for a codicil to her last will and testament in the presence of us
present at the same time who at her request in her presence and in the
presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses

Proved at London with a codicil 27th May 1846 before the worshipful
William Calverley Curtas Doctor of Laws and Surrogate in by the
Oath of Edward Simon Stephenson Esquire the nephew the Executor
named in the will and Jervis Robert Bellamy Esquire the Executor
named in the said Codicil to whom Admon was granted having been
first sworn duly to administer
