In the Name of God Amen
Whereas I Elianor Glanvile wife of Richard Glanvile of Tickenham
Court in the County of Somerset gent whilst I was sole and
before my marriage with the said Richard Glanvile (by the
name of Elianor Ashfield of Tickenham in the County of
Somerset widow by my Indentures of Lease and Release bearing
date the three and twentieth and four and twentieth days
of November which as in the first year of the reign of
the late King James the Second did grant release and confirm
to Edward Gorges of Charleton either the parish of Wraxall
in the County of Somerset esq and William Rogers of Painswick
in the County of Gloucester Esq there heirs and assigns All
that my manor or Lordship of Tickenham with all and
singular its rights members and appurtenances in the said
County of Somerset and also all those my manors or
lordship of Rodney Stoke and Cheddar with all and
singular the rights members and appurtenances in the
said County of Somerset And also All and singular my farms
lands tenements and hereditaments situate lying and being
within the several parishes of Barkwell and Lockston and
either of them in the said County of Somerset And all houses
outhouses edifices buildings dovehouses barns stables courtsyards
curtilages gardens orchards lands meadows pastures
steadings commons profits comodities advantages hereditaments
and appurtenances whatsoever to the said several named
lordships farms tenements lands and premises and to
every or any of them belonging or appertaining
therewith nonalloy occupied or enjoyed or accepted reputed
deemed or taken as part parcel or member thereof And
also All other the manors lordships messuages lands
tenements farms and hereditaments whatsoever situate
lying and being within the County of Somerset aforesaid whereof
or wherein I the said Elianor was then siezed or any estate of
inheritance And all rents herriots and services reserved
one or payable upon or by any demise lease or grant
demised leased or grants made or granted or the said
manors lordships messuages tenements farms lands
hereditaments and premises and every or any part or
parcel thereof and the reversion and reversions remainder
and remainders thereof and all my estate and interest
therein to be had and holden to the said Edward Gorges
and William Rogers their heirs and assigns for ever
the only proper use and behoof of them the said Edward
Gorges and William Rogers and of their heirs and assigns
for evermore As in and by the said verfied indenturee ***
appear And whereas in and by one indenture tripartite
bearing date the five and twentieth day of November which
was in the first year of the reign of the then said late King
James the second made between me the said Elianor Glanville
(by the name of Elianor Ashfield of Tickenham in the County
of Somerset widow) of the first part the said Richard Glanville
(by the name of Richard Glanvile of the City of Bristol gent)
of the second part and the said Edward Gorges and William
Rogers of the third part (writing therein in effect as is
herein before verfied) and that a marriage was agreed
upon and intended shortly to be had and solemnized between
the said Richard Glanvile and me the said Elianor It was
agreed and declared by and between the said parties to the
said last indenture and every of them and especially by the
said Richard Glanville testified by his being a party and
putting his hand and seal thereto in manner and form
following (that is to say) that the said lease and release
before mentioned were so made to the said Edward Gorges and
William Rogers and their heirs as aforesaid by and with the
privity and consent of him the said Richard Glanvile and upon
this trust and confidence in them the said Edward Gorges
and William Rogers reposed that they the said Edward Gorges
and William Rogers and the survivor of them and the heirs
of such survivor should from time to time make such leases
grants and estates of all and singular the formentioned
manors lordships messuages tenements farms lands
hereditaments and premises or any part or parcel
thereof and should permit and suffer the rents issues and
profits thereof to be had received taken and enjoyed by such
person and persons as I the said Elianor by any writing or
writings deed or deeds under my hand and seal or by my
last will and testament in writing testified by three or
more witnesses which writings deeds or will the said
Richard Glanvile did agree and consent that I might and
thereby he did enable me to make the same as if I were a
femesoly (?) should from time to time limit or order declare or
appoint and for want of such direction and appoinment
then as the heir of me the said Elianor Glanvile should
direct or appoint as in and by the said last will recited indenture
may appear Now I the said Elianor Glanvile in pursuance
by the said last recited indenture by this my last will and
testament testified by the persons whose names are hereupon
indorsed or hereunder written as witnesses thereunto do
will and devise that they the said Edward Gorges and William
Rogers their heirs and assigns by and out of the rents and
profits of the said manors and premises or by leasing
thereof or any part thereof under a small yearly rent or
by mortgage or sale thereof of or any part thereof in the first
place shall satisfy and pay to Thomas Merrick esq the
executor of Sir William Merrick Knt deceased two thousand
five hundred pounds and interest serviced by a mortage
on the greatest part of the said premises and after payment
Edmond Ashfield the sum of ten pounds to my daughter
Mary the sum of ten pounds and to my son Richard
the like sum of ten pounds and the weekly sum of five
shillings to my daughter Elianor during her life for her
maintenance and as concerning all and singular my said
manor lands and hereditaments in the said County
of Somerset after the debts maintenance and portions
aforesaid shall be paid I devise and bequeath the same unto
my cousins Henry Goodrick esq son of my cousin Sr
John Goodrick of Ribston in the County of York baronet
his heirs and assigns for ever And I also give and bequeath
those legacies following vizt to my good friends the said
Edward Gorges and William Rogers twenty pounds apiece
to be laid out on a piece of plate to Mr John Garratt
one hundred pounds to John Baptist Stanbrig one
hundred pounds to Mrs Mary Burgis five pounds to the
poor of the said parish of Tickenham forty shillings and to
the poor of the parish of Barkwell in the said County of
Somerset the sum of twenty shillings to William Wase
ten pounds a year during his life so as the parish of
Wraxall do make him the same allowance towards his
maintenance as they now do This bequest being intended
only for an augmentation of his maintenance which
legacies above named I do hereby or direct and
appoint my aforesaid trustee Edward Gorges and William
Rogers to pay out of the rents and profits of my said
estate within one year after my decease And lastly I make
my said cousin Henry Goodrick sole executor of this my
last will and testament In witness whereof I have to
this my last will and testament contained in three sheets
of paper to the two first of the said sheets put my hand
and to the last thereof my hand and seal this thirtieth
day of July of in the year of our Lord one thousand
seven hundred and five and in the fourth year of the
reign of our Sovereign Lady Ann by the grace of God
Queen of England Scotland France and Ireland defender
of the faith &c / Elenor Glanvile / Signed sealed and
published by the testatrix above named to be her last will
and testament in the presence of us to did severally subscribe
our respective names as witnesses thereto in the presence of
the said testatrix and in the room where she then was
