      On 9 September 1827 The Examiner reported that a young man Robert Greenslade was committed for trial for burglary in the house of his grandmother, Mrs Glanville, at Coomb Park.
He was found to have smuggled a letter to his brother urging him to kill Mrs Glanville by poison to prevent her giving evidence against him, the letter giving the precise quantity of corrosive sublimate necessary.
Robert was formerly a druggist in Exeter and son of a builder. Robert was married, with two or three children and very poor - had two younger brothers in Devonport

The London Evening Standard 11 Sep 1827 continued the story by reporting his grandmother Betty Glanville of Bickleigh attended the Town hall on Monday to pray sureties of the peace against Richard and William Greenslade, brothers of the prisoner.
The Dorset County Chronicle 3 Apr 1828 reported:
Our Assizes terminated on Monday evening, and although there was a heavy calendar of prisoners, we are happy to say none are left for execution. The Judges quitted on Tuesday morning for Launceston.
