James Anthony Glanville was born in Monaghan, Ireland on July 9, 1925, to James and Harriet Emily (Hanley) Glanville. He crossed the Atlantic when he was only 3 years old to join family here in the USA in search of the American Dream. His mother, father and sister also crossed. He was the oldest of six children, Edie, Dolores, Diane Bobby and Kathy, all of whom were there in the heavens to welcome him home on Nov. 4, 2016, which appropriately was his mother's birthday. His father and mother both passed away when he was a young man in 1948.
In 1943 he joined the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Rosalie (Rose) Elizabeth Jolicoeur in 1947 and they spent 61 years together. She passed on in 2009 and not a day went by that he did not think of her and miss her. He worked hard, constantly improving his career which included production control manager at Bell & Howell and Ampex, both in the Chicago area. His hard work led to his appointment as director of manufacturing at United Music Instruments in Nogales, AZ and Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. His relocation in 1975 brought his wife Rose and daughter Denise Glanville to AZ, which he loved for its beautiful weather, clear blue skies and wonderful people.
His son Jim Glanville and wife Gwen followed in 1978, and daughter Gail and husband Jim Meredith in 1991. Granddaughter Michelle Tabeling, husband Jeff and sons Christopher and Michael joined him in 2008. He enjoyed traveling in his motorhome, boating and fishing, and flying the model airplanes that he made.
He leaves behind his three children, Jim Glanville, Gail Meredith and Denise Glanville; grandchildren Michelle and Jeff Tabeling, Christy and Kyle Stephens, Sarah and Stuart Aitken, Jill and Jonathon DeBake, Brian Glanville and Eric Glanville; great-grandchildren Christopher and Theresa Tabeling, Michael and Rachel Tabeling, Callum Aitken, Shannon Aitken, and Hannah DeBake.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 13, at his daughter's home, Gail Meredith, 1033 E. Baldy Springs Place, Green Valley, AZ, at 2 p.m. Please call 399-0282 if you have any questions.
