On 26 May 1916 The Western Times reported;
Man Found with this Throat Cut at Woodbury
John James Glanvill, Rydon Farm, Woodbury, is reported to have been found on Saturday morning with his throat cut. The discovery is said to have been made by his sister, with whom he has been residing. Dr. Beesley, of Exmouth, was summoned and the partient is under treatment at home.

Re JOHN JAMES GLANVILL, Deceased.
Pursuant to an Act of Parliament 22nd and 23rd Vic., cap. 35, intituled "An Act to further amend the Law of Property and to relieve Trustees."
NOTICE is hereby given, that all creditors and other persons having any claims or demands against the estate of John James Glanvill, late of Exminster, formerly of Rydon Farm, Woodbury, both in the county of Devon, Farmer, deceased (who died on the 11th day of May, 1917, and to whose estate letters of administration were granted out of the District Probate Registry at Exeter of the Probate Division of His Majesty's High Court of Justice, on the 27th day of September, 1917, to John Francis Glanvill), are hereby required to send the particulars, in writing, of their claims to us, the undersigned, the Solicitors for the said administrator, on or before the twenty-ninth day of November, 1917, after which date the said administrator will proceed to distribute the assets of the said deceased amongst the persons entitled thereto, having regard only to the claims of which he shall then have had notice; and he will not be liable for the assets of the said deceased, or any part thereof, so distributed, to any person of whose claims or demands he shall not then have had notice.— Dated this 25th day of October, 1917.
