     On 17 August 1840 the proceeding of the Old Bailey record an indictment against Ann Chapman for stealing.
Witnesses statements include:
HENRY BAPTISTE GLANVILLE . I am in the service of Charles Carter, a linen-draper, in Cross-street, Hoxton. About the 21st of July, I missed some cotton when the policeman came on the Friday following—I do not know when it was taken—it was taken from the door—the officer showed me a piece of printed cotton—(produced)—this is it—it is my master's.

Ann Chapmas was found guilty and transported for seven years.
     On 30 March 1844 he was tried at the Sussex County Assizes, for Larceny by Servant, sentenced to 6mths imprisonment.

Henry Baptist Glanville, aged 20, was charge with having stolen from the shop of Mr. Charles Barnes, linen draper of Woodbridge, 14 pieces of tape, 6 1/2 yards of black lute string, 7 yards of check muslin, and other articles. Six months' hard labour.
