Enlisting into Royal Field Artillery Regtl No 7417. He ended military service; with 4 entries in his conduct record. Thrice being fined 7days pay and confined to barracks, once for being absent from 10pm to 08:45m, another for disobedience of standing orders, and negligence whilst on guard (also field punishment no. 2 7days). The first punishment was for absence between 10pm and 11pm. He served in Salonika in 1917. He had been hospitalised once for tonsillitis and once for enlarged tonsils. When with 96 Anti Aircraft section admitted to hospital 6 Jan 1918 with serious burns of right arm (he was mess orderly lighting a fire with petrol in a tin and the glove he was wearing caught fire burning his forearm and hand). On 20 Sep 1916 as 7417 Gunner Glanville reported for cut lip (2 stitches inserted).
