On 20 September 1917 Military Cross - (Polygon Wood 20 September 1917) 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He led his platoon with great dash and skill in an attack. At one period, when he found himself out of touch with his men, and under heavy rifle fire, he went forward, though his revolver ammunition was expended, and captured sixteen of the enemy.
