Robert L. Glanville, longtime resident of Pompton Plains, passed away on March 8, 2024.
Born in Morristown, Robert was the son of Carmen and Mary Cook. After graduating from Morristown High School, Robert worked for NJ Bell Telephone Company before proudly serving as a 1st Lt. in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. On October 16, 1955, Robert would marry Catherine Barthelemy and the couple would settle in Pompton Plains.
Robert tirelessly volunteered as a firefighter for Pequannock Twp. Fire Dept Engine Company No. 1 for over 60 years, demonstrating the principles of both service and sacrifice. His involvement in the Lions Club of Passaic showcased his deep-rooted commitment to making a difference on a broader scale, embodying the club's ethos of service and community betterment.
Robert is survived by his sons, Mark and his wife Barbara and Thomas and his wife Kristina; his daughter, Maureen Reda and her husband John; his son in-law, Vincent Moloughney; his sister, Ann Carton; his brother, Charles Glanville; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Robert was predeceased by his wife, Catherine, and his daughter, Patricia.
Visiting hours will be held 2-6 pm on Sunday, 3/17 at Scanlan's Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am on Monday, 3/18 at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church, Pompton Plains.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert's memory can be made to Pequannock Twp. Engine Company No. 1.
