ESCANABA - Barbara E. "Barb" Larche, 78, 1800 S. 21st Place, Escanaba, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 15, 2011, at Christian Park Healthcare Center.
She was born on April 16, 1932, in Dollar Bay, Mich., the daughter of Alden and Sigrid (Boatman) Glanville. Barb attended Dollar Bay High School and then graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Hancock.
On June 12, 1953, Barbara Glanville married her high school sweetheart, Edgar Larche, in Dollar Bay.
She was employed at St. Joseph Hospital in Hancock for three years and also at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
Barb enjoyed bowling, golfing, sports and was an avid reader.
She was a member of St. Anne's Church, the Escanaba Country Club, and was a Lady Elk.
Among her survivors include her husband, Edgar "Socko" of Escanaba; three sons, Mark (Sherry) of Manistique, Brian (Nancy) of Escanaba, and Jeff (Sherry) of Elk Horn, Wis; four grandchildren, Brook (Bob) Prins of Gladstone, Brandon Larche of Indianapolis, Toni Larche of Houghton and Michelle (Ben) Varoni of Green Bay; three great-grandchildren, Elena, Alex, and Jack Prins; and sisters-in-law, Betty Glanville of Kingsford, and Shirley Glanville of Lapeer, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Bradford and Richard.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 18, from 2-7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba.
The Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Anne's Church with Rev. Fran DeGroot officiating. A luncheon will follow the service in the church hall.
Entombment will be in Gardens of Rest Mausoleum.
