Catherine marrying as Catherine Herbert from her previous marriage. Widower and widow. His age recorded 37, father Hermon Glanville french polisher. Hers 38, father William Louis Gay brass finisher.
Witnesses William Glanville, Edward Herbert. William Glanvill Rudd began military service on 3 August 1915 recorded age 49 years, 79 days. Enlisting in the 1st London Regiment, Labour Corps as a Private, promoted to Lance Corporal 23 Feb 1917. Regimental No. 4741. Height 5ft 5.25in, 35.5 inch chest expanded. Upon medical examination passed fit for a Cook. As Staff Sergeant Glanville, School of Cooking at Rouen in May 1918 his service number was 163456. He ended military service on 10 December 1918; discharged as being no longer physically fit for war service. Being disabled by a hernia. He had served at home until 5 Jan 1918, then in France until 10 May 1918, and then home again until discharge. Miilitary letter dated June 1918 records application for Staff Sergt Glanville, prior to joining this unit was a staff sergeant instructor in cooking, transferred to labour corps on compassionate grounds, requesting retention of his services at headquarters, by officer commanding 710 Company, ASC, Newton Street, His application was to be near his home 64 Arlington Road, Camden Town where his wife was an invalid and he had 5 little children, he had been sent home from France to be near them.
