     He died on 3 October 1966 at NZ (when age calculated as 84.)

     Between 1914 and 1918 he served in the New Zealand army, service number 6/235 from the 60 Cambrai Street, Nelson, South Island. The rolls of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force 1914 list him as Company Sergeant Major in the Canterbury Infantry Battalion.
