These are to certify that John William Glanvill the son of William Glanvill and Eleanor Glanvill his Wife, who was daughter of Webster Clark was Born in Little Saint Andrew Street Seven Dials in the Parish of St Giles in the fields in the County of Middlesex the First Day of February in the Year one Thousand eight hundred and eighteen at whose Birth we were present Elizabeth Lowden Archd Barklimore surgeon.
Registered at Dr William's Library, Redcross-Street, near Cripplegate, London Oct 20th 1819.
He was baptized on 1 February 1818 at St Giles in the Fields parish church, St Giles High Street, Holborn, MDX, ENG, Examination of the St Giles baptismal register (Bishop Transcripts) does not support this information, no record is found on 1st Feb.
He married Mary Ann Oborne on 12 July 1841 at St James the Less, Thorndike Street, Westminster, MDX, ENG, (when age calculated as 23 years, 5 months and 11 days) registered St James Westminster. Both of full age, fathers named William Glanvill and Abner Oborne pianoforte ****. Witness Mary Ann Glanvill and Abner Oborne.
He died in December 1891 at St Johns Hill, Wandsworth, SRY, ENG, (when age calculated as 73); recorded age 74, registered Wandsworth.
He was buried on 18 December 1891 at Old Brompton Cemetery, Earls Court, MDX, ENG, recorded age 74.

On 7 July 1843 The London Gazette carried the following:
JOHN WILLIAM GLANVILL, formerly, and for eighteen months, residing at No. 24, Queen-street, Brompton, in the parish of Saint Mary Abbotts, Kensington, and county of Middlesex, and at present, and for seven months past, residing at No. 28, Queen-street aforesaid, and being a Philosophical Instrument Maker, do hereby give notice, that I intend to present a Petition to the Court of Bankruptcy, in Basinghall-street, praying to be examined touching my debts, estate, and effects, and to be protected from all process upon making a full disclosure and surrender of such estate and effects, for payment of my just and lawful debts; and I hereby further give notice, that the time, when the matter of the said Petition shall be heard, is to be advertized in the London Gazette and in the Morning Advertiser Newspaper, one month at the least after the date hereof: As witness my hand, this 1st day of July, in the year of our Lord, 1843. J. WM. GLANVILL.
The Morning Advertiser 13 Jul 1843 carried:

On 14 July 1865 he was admitted into Chelsea Workhouse, Britten Street, recorded age 47, Optician, residence Chelsea Workhouse. It appears he was only there overnight.
