BETTY FRANCES VINING GLANVILLE, 81, passed away on May 9, 2007. Betty was born on March 15, 1926, in Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances Estelle Blankenship Vining and Benjamin Lowery Vining, and her son, James Michael Glanville. She is survived by her son, Robert Steven Glanville, wife Linda, of Cupertino, CA, her daughter, Mary Ann Moore, husband Bill, of Hereford, AZ, and her grand-children, Marie and Thomas Moore. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law, and a generous and loving friend to many. She will be sorely missed by all of us. Betty graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX in 1946 with a B.S. in Chemistry and Math, and from the University of Texas with a M.A. in Chemistry in 1948. She moved to Houston with her family in 1964. She worked for the Society of Professional Well Logging Analysts and as a teacher of Chemistry and of Mathematics in the Houston Independent School District. Her son Steve remembers well how he had to behave when his mom was his teacher in math class. Betty was a long-time member of the Bridgebuilders Class of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church. She really enjoyed participating in the Bell Choir, Chimes, and NOAH and the Kitchen Band at MDUMC. She had been a volunteer at Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, to interesting foreign places like Israel, and the annual Mystery Trip. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, San Jacinto Chapter for Texas, and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Her favorite flower was the Texas bluebonnet. Betty was an independent-living resident of Parkway for the last seven years. She had many friends and thoroughly enjoyed her time there. "The kids" always enjoyed visiting with her and her friends. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, 12955 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77079. A graveside service is scheduled the following day, Wednesday, May 16th at 10:00 a.m. in Dallas at Grove Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, 4118 Samuell Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75228.
