     Denis Glanville was born in 1820 at St Michael's parish, Cork, COR, IRL.

     On 5 February 1879 he was discharged from Her Majesty's 14th Regiment of Foot, where he was a labourer and private, having attested at Cork 5 Jul 1838 at recorded age 18. He had served six and half years in America, 4 months in Malta and 6 months in Crimea. In that time he received a medal and clasp for Sebastapol, and a medal presented by the Sultan of Turkey for Crimea. He had also been twice tried at Courts Martial and his named appeared three times in the Regimental Defaulters book.
