Deep and sincere regret has been occasioned throughout the local community at the passing of Sean Glanville, South Terrace, who passed peacefully away at the Padre Pio Nursing Home in Cappoquin where he had been resident in the loving care of the staff for a period of time.
Sean was one of our oldest community members, and was into his 92nd year when he was finally called ashore by the Man Above. He lived every one of those nine decades plus to the full and was in every sense a gentleman to his finger tips.
He had a great love of golf down through the years and as a member of the Dungarvan club over a long period of time, and was also a former president and captain.
He was predeceased a number of years by his charming wife Mae (nee Forde) with whom he had shared all those years of wedded bliss. They were an inseparable couple together and now they have been reunited in the Paradise of the Lord.
Son of the late Jack and Eileen Glanville, Sean was also predeceased by his brother Harry and his sister Kathleen to whom he was very closely involved as a family. Possessed of countless outstanding attributes, he will always be remembered most for his kind and caring ways, his understanding of other peoples woes, and his willingness at all times to lend a helping hand if that was at all possible.
They come no finer in life than Sean Glanville, and his passing has created a community void that will be very difficult to fill.
Survived by his son Kevin, daughter-in-law Annette, his beloved grandson Kevin jnr., and his brother Gerard, our sincerest sympathy is extended to them and to the other relatives within the extended Glanville family.
The removal of his remains from the Padre Pio Nursing Home to St. Mary’s Parish Church on Sunday evening of last week was accompanied by a very representative cortege, and following the funeral Mass in St. Mary’s on the Monday Sean was laid to rest in the adjoining cemetery in the presence of another large attendance.
