In 1841 William was a shoemaker living in Colebrook PSM with wife Ann and children. They were Ann H born 1836, Elizabeth born 1839, and Emma born 1841. A son William John was born 1847 he died as a baby and wasn't in the 1851 census. In 1861 William was the landlord of the White Thorn Inn in Shaugh Prior and lived in Bickleigh a small village between Shaugh Prior and Plymouth in 1881. In 1851 the family was in Fore St Ermington.
