Galilee L. Glanville
Galilee Lucille Nelson Glanville passed away on May 9, 2016 from Congestive Heart Failure. Galilee, or "Gal" as she was affectionately known, was born April 10, 1930 in Little Falls, Minnesota to Levi and Manda Nelson. The youngest of seven children, Galilee grew up on a farm bordering the Mississippi River, near Fort Ripley, MN. She married James O Glanville (Jim), son of L.E. and Ivy Glanville, on September 10th, 1948 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Little Falls. In 1949, Jim, Gal and their infant son moved to California for Jim to attend the University of Redlands. The couple opened Glanville Business Services after his graduation. Galilee obtained a Vocational Education Credential from Southern Illinois University, and has enriched many students' lives by teaching medical assisting, anatomy, and medical terminology at United Health Careers, R.O.P, and San Bernardino Valley College. Galilee was a 66 year resident of Redlands where she was active in many civic groups including Santa Claus, Inc., Women of Faith, RAICC, and Sons of Norway. She was very active in her church, and was a charter member of the Redlands United Church of Christ. Galilee was a published poet, featured in Who's Who of American Teachers, and featured as an "Our Town Hero" for the Community of Redlands. She is survived by her five children: Gregory Glanville of Loma Linda, Constance Knox (Daniel Knox) of Fallbrook, Kathleen Barton (Robert Barton), Susan Chaplo (Michael Chaplo), and Michelle Glanville (Ronald Buchwald) all of Redlands, and her five grandchildren whom she adored: James, Lauren, and Emily Barton, and Travis and Haley Knox. Her celebration of life will be held at her beloved Redlands United Church of Christ at 168 Bellevue Ave, Redlands on May 22 at 1:00 P.M. Graveside service will be held Monday, May 23 at 1:00 PM at Hillside Memorial Cemetery in Redlands. Friends who wish may make a memorial contribution in Galilee's name to Santa Claus Inc (824 E 6th Street, San Bernardino, CA 92410), RUCC (168 Bellevue Ave, Redlands, CA 92373), or Sons of Norway, Soldalen Lodge.
