R. Michael Glanville 49, of Powell Ohio and formerly of Perrysburg died peacefully in his home on August 24, 2012 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous 16-month battle with brain cancer.
Mike was born in Toledo, Ohio on June 16, 1963 to Richard and Judy (Diebert) Glanville. After dating his high school sweetheart, Donna Baker for 13 years, they married at St. Rose Parish in Perrysburg, on October 15, 1993. Mike was a devoted father and husband who was passionate about his family and friends and enjoyed cheering his sons on at their soccer and basketball games.
Mike graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1981 and the University of Toledo in 1990 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. Mike began his working career at General Mills in Toledo and then moved into Pharmaceutical sales where he excelled as a territory and district manager at a number of companies for over 20 years, most recently for Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals.
Mike cherished his friends and time with his family. He spent many weekends entertaining at their home on Lake Pleasant in Indiana and also loved vacationing in Treasure Island Florida and was an avid car collector. Mike and several close friends made multiple trips to The Masters and went on an annual ski trip to Pennsylvania where no one ever left the lodge!
Mike had a unique personality and made an indelible mark on everyone he met. Whether Mike knew someone for only a short time or for a lifetime he made friends everywhere he went. Known to all as " The King" he remembered friends' birthdays by sending out hundreds of cards every year. Mike owned a quick wit and always brought a smile to those he met. He had a phrase for every situation and human condition and brightened up a room when he walked in. With his bright red hair and his classic flat top once someone met Mike they never forgot him.
