Sarah Burgess died in September 1812 at London, MDX, ENG. She was buried on 30 September 1812 at Shoreditch, MDX, ENG; recorded age 79. Her estate was probated on 6 October 1812 Proved at London 6th October 1821 before the worshipful John Dewberry

in the parish of Saint Mary Lambeth in the County of Surrey widow do hereby
revoke all former wills & codicils & other testamentary dispositions by me
at any time or times heretofor made & declare this to be my last will
& testament & I do nominate & appoint my said sons Thomas Glanvill &
Burgefs Glanvill & xecutors thereof I give & bequeath to the said Thomas
Glanvill & Burgefs Glanvill their & xecutors admins & afsigns all that
my leasehold mefsuages or tenement with the appurts situate in pedlars
acre in the parish of Saint Mary Lambeth in the County of Surrey now
in my own occupation upon trust that they the said Thomas Glanvill
& Burgefs Glanvill or the survivor or them his & xecutors or admons
so he shall devise let & out the same to any person or persons for
the best & most improved rent that can be obtained for the same
& pay the rents & profits thereof as the same shall be received to my
daughter Maria Jemima Creed the wife of Mr Charles Creed for &
during her life for her separate use & not to be subject to the debts
controul of the present or any future husband or otherwise p*
& suffer to said Maria Jemima Creed to hold & occupy the same she
paying & dicharging the ground rent & all the outgoings payable
in scope thereof & I declare that the receipt & receipts alone of the said
Maria Jemima Creed for the said rents shall notwithstanding her
coverture be a good & & ffectual discharge & disharges to my said trustees
for the same & from & after the decease of the said Maria Jemima Creed
to pay the said rents & profits to my son Thomas Glanvill for & during
the time of his natural life & from & immediately after the decease of the
said Thomas Glanvill to afsign & transfer the said Mefsuage or
tenenement & premises with the appurts unto my son Burgefs Glanvill
his & xcutors admons & afsigns for & during all the residue & remainder
of the & state & interest which shall be then to come therein Also I give
& bequeath unto the said Maria Jemima Creed my wearing apparel & to
her & the said Thomas Glanvill & Burgefs Glanvill all my household good
& furniture plate linen & china & qually to be divided between them
share & share alike & as to for & concerning all & & very the stocks funds
& securities sum & sums of money debts & all other my personal & state of
whatsoever nature or kind of or to which I or any person or persons
in trust for me shall be intitled at the time of my decease I give
& bequesth the same unto the & xecutors of this my will upon & for
the trusts interest & purposes hereinafter & xprefsed & declared touching &
concerning the same (that is to say in the first place to pay satisfy &
discharge my funeral & testamentary & xpenses & all such debts as when
or may be justly due from me & in the next place with such
convenient speed as aforesaid to satisfy & discharge the several
pecuniary bequests & dispositions hereinafter made & directed that is
to say to pay transfer or afsign unto my said son Thomas Glanvill
his & xecutors admons & afsigns the sum of one thousand & twenty five
pounds five pounds per cent navy bank annuities & also the sum of
seven hundred & fifty pounds three per cent old south sea annuities to
& for his own use & benefit also to pay transfer or afsign unto my said
son Burgefs Glanvill the sum of three hundred & twenty five pounds five
per cent navy bank annuities & also the sum of seven hundred &
fifty pounds three per cent old south sea annuities to & for his own
use & benefit but in case he said Burgefs Glanvill shall happen to
depart this life in my life time then I direct my said & xecutors to
pay transfer & afsign one moiety of the said several sums of three
hundred & twenty five pounds bank annuities & seven hundred & fifty
pounds south sea annuities unto my said son Thomas Glanvill
my son in law Charles Creed & William & dwards of Westminster Row
musical instrument maker & the survivors & survivor of them his
& xecutors or admons to be by them & him pofsefsed held & applied upon
such & the same trusts & to & for such & the same & nd interests &
& xpenses as I have *** declared & & xprefsed of & concerting the
sum of two hundred pounds five per cent navy bank annuities for
the benefit of my grandson Alfred Charles Glanvill as hereinaforesaid
mentioned to pay & transfer the other moiety of the said *** of three
& twenty five pounds bank annuities & seven hundred & fifty
pounds south seah annuities unto the said Thomas Glanville Charles Creed
& William & dwards & the survivors & survivor of them his & xcutors &
admons to be by them & him pofsefsed paid & applied upon such & the same
trusts & for & for such & for some (?) *** interests & purposes as are herinafter
& xprefsed respecting the sums of five hundred pounds five per cent navy
bank annuities for the benefit of my said grand daughter Caroline
& lizabeth Creed Glanvill & otherwise as hereinafter is mentioned also
to pay transfer or afsign unto my said son Thomas Glanvill the said
Charles Creed & the said William & dwards their & xecutors or admons
the sum of two hundred pounds five per cent navy bank annuities
to be by them held & applied upon & for the trusts interests & purposes
hereinafter & xprefsed & declared touching & concerning the same that
is to say upon trust they they the said Thomas Glanvill Charles
Creed & William & dwards their & xecutors admons & afsigns do & shall in
the mean time & until my said grandson Alfred Charles Glanvill son
of the said Burgefs Glanvill shall have attained his age of 21 years
pay the interest dividents & annual produce of the said sum of two
hundred pounds bank annuities unto the said Burgefs Glanvill in
order that the same interest dividends & annual produce may be
applied for & towards the maintenance benefit or & ducation of the said
Alfred Charles Glanvill or otherwise do & shall *** same applied
accordingly & when & so soon as the said Alfred Charles Glanvill shall
have attained his age of twenty one years thereforward & until he shall have
attained his age of twenty four years so & shall pay the interest dividends
& annual produce of the said sum of two hundred pounds bank annuities
unto the said Alfred Charles Glanvill & his afsigns to & for his & their own
use & benefit as soon as the the said Alfred Charles Glanville shall have
attained his age of twenty four years do & shall pay therefore & afsign the
said sum of two hundred pounds bank annuties unto the said Alfred
Charles Glanville his & xecutors admons & afsigns but if he shall happen to
depart this life under the age of twenty four years then do & shall
immediately upon & after the decease of the said Alfred Charles Glanvill
under such age pay transfer & afsign the said sum of two hundred pounds
bank annuities unto the said Burgefs Glanvill his & xecutors admons &
afsigns I do heeby also order & direct my said & xecutors to & out of my said
& state pay tranfer or afsign unto the said Thomas Glanvill Charles Creed &
William & dwards their & xecutors or admon the sum of five hundred pounds
five per cent navy bank annuities to be by them held & applied upon & for
the trusts intents & purposes hereinafter & xprefsed & declared touching &
concerning the same (this is to say upon trust that they the said Thomas
Glanvill Charles Creed & William & dwards their & xecutors admons & afsigns
do & shall in the mean time & until my said grand daughter Caroline
& lizabeth Creed Glanvill daughter of the said Burgefs Glanvill shall have
attained her ageo of twenty one years or her day of marriage which shall first
happen pay the interest dividends & annual produce of the said sum of
five hundred pounds bank annuities unto the said Burgefs Glanvill in order
that the said interest dividends & annual produce may be applied for or
towards the maintenance benefit or & ducation of the said Caroline & lizabeth
Creed Glanvill or otherwise do & shall see the same applied accordingly &
when & so soon as the said Caroline & lizabeth Creed Glanvill shall have
attained her age of twenty one year or shall marry before she shall have
attained that age with the consent & approbation of the said Burgefs
Glanvill to be testified by or *ting to be signed by him do & shall
stand pofsefsed at the said sum of five hundred pounds bank annuities
in trust to pay the interest dividends & annual proceeds thereof from
time to time as the same shall be *tvised to the said Caroline
& lizabeth Cree Glanville for the term of her life for her own separate
use & not to be subject to the debts controul or & ngagements of any person
she may happen to marry & I declared that the receipt & receipts alone
of the said Caroline & lizabeth Creed Glanvill for the said interest or
dividends shall notwithstanding her coverture be a good & & ffectual
discharge or good & & ffectual discharges to the said Thomas Glanvill
Charles Creed & William & dwards their & xecutors admons & afsigns for
the same & after the decease of the said Caroline & lizabeth Creed Glanvill
do & shall stand & be pofsefsed of & interested in the said sum of five hundred
pounds bank annuities & the interests dividends & annual proceeds thereof
in trust for all & & very the children & child of the said Caroline & lizabeth
Creed Glanvill who being a son or sons shall attain the age to twenty
one years or depart this life under that age leaving ifsue one or more
child or children of his or their body or respective bodies living at the
time of his or their decease or respective deceases or who being a daughter
or daughters shall attain the age of twenty one years or marry & to be
divided between or among such children (if more than one in & qual
shares & if there shall be but one such child then the whole to be In
trust for that one child & after the decease of the said Caroline
& lizabeth Creed Glanvill & until the whole of the said sum of five
hundred pounds bank annuities shall become *sted in such child
children or ifsue as aforesaid do & shall pay & apply the interest
dividends & annual produce thereof unto & for the maintenance &
benefit of all & & very the children & child for the time being of the body
of teh said Caroline & lizabeth Creed Glanvill & qually between or amongst
them if more than one & if there shall be no children or ifsue of the said
Caroline & lizabeth Creed Glanvill who shall become intitled to the said
sum of five hundred pounds bank annuities under the trusts hereinbefore
declared of concerning the same or if the said Caroline & lizabeth Creed
Glanvill shall die under the age of twenty one year & unmarried or
shall before that age marry without the consent of the said Burgefs
Glanvill as aforesaid then & in & ither of such cases I do hereby direct that
the said trustees or trustee for the time being to & shall immediately
after the happening of & ither of such & vents said & be pofsefsed of &
interested in the said sum of five hundred pounds bank annuities
& the interest dividend & annual prouce thereof in trust for the said
Alfred Charles Glanville his & xecutors admons & afisngs provided
always & I do hereby declare my will & mind to be that it shall be
lawful for the said trustee or trustees for the time being during the life
of the said Caroline & lizabeth Creed Glanvill with her consent & after
her decease at his or their own discretion to raise & apply all or any
part of the & xpectant portion of provision of any child or ifsue of the
body of the said Caroline & lizabeth Creed Glanvill as aforesaid whose
portions or provisions shall not then be payable under the trusts
aforesaid to his or her preferment advancement or benefit I do hereby
also further order & direct my said & xecutors to pay transfer or
afsign unto the said Thomas Glanvill henry Burnett of Westminster
Bridge Road hosier & the said Burgefs Glanvill & the survivors &
survivor of them his & xecutors admons & afsigns the sum of four
hundred & fifty pounds five per cent navy bank annuities & the sum
of six hundred pounds three per cent reduced bank annuities upon
& for the trusts interests & purposes hereinafter & xprefsed & declared touching
& concerning the same (that is to say) upon trust that the said
Thomas Glanvill Henry Barnett & Burgefs Glanville their & xecutors
admons or afsigns do & shall during the life of my said daughter Maria
Jemima Creed pay the interest dividents & annaul product of the said
sums of four hundred & fifty pounds & six hundred pounds bank annuities
to such persons or for such purposes as the said Maria Jemima Creed
shall from time to time by any writing under her hand appoint but
not so as to displose of the same by sale mortgage charge or otherwise
in the way of anticipation or in default of such appointments unto her
own hands for her own separate use independent of her present husband
or any future husband with whom she may happen to intermarry &
after the decease of the said Maria Jemima Creed so & shall stand &
be pofsefsed of & interested in the said two last mentioned sums of bank
annuities & the interest dividend & annual produce thereof in trust for
all & only the children & child of the said Maria Jemima Creed who being
a son or sons shall attain the age of twenty one years or depart this
life under that age leaving ifsue one or more child or children of his or
their body or respective bodies living at the time of his or their decease
or respective deceases or who being a daughter or daughters shall attain
the age of twenty year or marry to be divided between or among such
children (if more than one) in & qual shares & if there shall be but one
such child then the wash (?) to be in trust for that one child & after the
decease of the said Maria Jemima Creed & until the whole of the said sums
of four hundred & fifty pounds & size hundred pounds bank annuities shall
become vested in such child children or ifsue as aforesaid so & shall pay &
apply the interest dividends & annual produce thereof unto & for the
maintenance or benefit of all & very teh children & child for the time being
of the body of the said Maria Jemima Creed & qually between or amongst
them if more than one & if there shall no children or ifsue of the
said Maria Jemima Creed who shall become intitled to the said
sums of four hundred & fifty pounds & six hundred pounds bank annuities
under the trusts hereinbefore declared of & concerning the same then
I do hereby direct that the said trustees or trustee for the time being do
& shall after the decease of the said Maria Jemima Creed & *** failure
of ifsue of her body as aforesaid stand & be pofsefsed of & interested in the
said sums of four hundred & fifty pounds & six hundred pounds bank
annuities & the interest dividends & annual produce the pay upon & for
the trusts interests & purposes folloeing (that is to say) as to for & concerning
one full undivided moiety or & qual half part thereof in trust for my son
the said Thomas Glanvill his & xecutors admons & afsigns & as for
concerning the other undivided moiety or & qual half part thereof in trust
for my son the said Burgefs Glanvill his & xecutors admons afsigns provided
always & I do hereby declare my will & mind to be that it shall be lawful
for the said trustee or trustees for the time being during the life of the
said Maria Jemima Creed with her consent & after the decease at his
or their own discretion to raise & apply all or any part of the
& expectant portion or provision of any child or ifsue of the body of
the said Mria Jemima Creed as aforesaid whose portions or provisions
shall not then be payable under the trusts aforesaid for his or her
preferment advancement or benefit & I do hereby further order & direct my
said & xecutors to pay transfer or afsign unto the said Thomas Glanvill
Henry Burnett & Burgefs Glanvill the sum of five hundred pounds five per
cent navy bank annuities upon & for the trusts interest & purposes
hereinafter & xprefsed & declared touching & concerning the same that is
to say) upon trust that they the said Thomas Glanvill Henry Burnett
& Burgefs Glanvill their & xecutors admons & afsigns do & shall & the
mean time & until my grand daughter Sarah Maria and daughter
of the said Maria Jemima Creed shall have attained her age of twenty
one year or her day of marriage which shall first happen pay &
apply the interest dividends & annual produce of the said sum of five
hundred pounds bank annuities for or towards the maintenance
benefit or & ducation of the said Sarah Maria Creed & when & so soon as
the said Sarah Maria Creed shall have attained her age of twenty one
years or shall marry before she shall have attained that age with
consent of the said Charles Creed & Maria Jemima Creed or the survivors
of them to be testified by a writing to be signed by them him or her
do & shall stand pofsefsed of the said sum of five hundred pounds bank
annuities in trust to pay the interest dividends & annual produce thereof
from time to time as the same shall be received to the said Sarah
Maria Creed for the term of her life for her own separate use & not
to be subject to the debts control or & ngagements of any person she may
happy to marry & I declare that the receipt & receipts alone of the
said Sarah Maria Creed for the said interest or dividends shall

affectual discharges to the said Thomas Glanvill Henry Burnett & Burgefs

in the said sum of five hundred pound bank annuities & the interest
dividend & annual produce thereof in trust for al & very the children
& child of the said Sarah Maria Creed who being a son or sons shall
attain the age of twenty one years or depart this life under that
age having ifsue one or more child or children of his or their body or
respective bodies living at the time of his or their decease or respective
deceases or who being a daughter or daughters shall attain the age of
twenty one years or marry & to be divided between or among such
children (if more than one) in & qual shares & if there shall be but one
such child then the whole to be in trust for that one child & after the
decease of the said Sarah Maria Creed & until the whole of the said sum
of five hundred pounds bank annuities shall become vested in such child
or children or ifsue as aforesaid do & shall pay & apply the interest

of the said Sarah Maria Creed & qually between or among them if more
then one & if there shall be no children or ifsue of the said Sarah Maria
Creed who shall become intitled to the said sum of five hundred pounds
bank annuities under the trusts hereinbefore declared of & concerning
the same or if the said Sarah Maria Creed shall die under the age of
twenty one years & unmarried or shall before that age marry without the
consent of the said Charles Creed & Maria Jemima Creed or of the survivor
of them as aforesaid then & in any or & ither of such cases I do hereby direct
that the said trustees or trustee for the time being so & shall immediately
after the happening of & ither of such & vents stand & be pofsefsed of & interested
in the said sum of five hundred pounts bank annuities & the interest

& after her decease at his or their own discretion to raise & apply all or any

of the said Sarah Maria Creed as aforesaid whose portions or provisions
shall not then be payable under the trusts aforesaid for his or her
preferment advancement or benefit & as to for & concerning all such other
sum & sums of money astanding in any or the public stocks or funds &
belonging to me & not hereinbefore particularly disposed of & the residue
of my personal & state after payment of my debts & funeral & testamentary
& xpenses I hereby order & direct my said & xecutors to pay transfer or
afsign the same in the proportions & manner following (that is to say
to pay afsign or transfer one third part thereof unto the said Thomas
Glanville Henry Barnett & Burgefs Glanvill their & xecutors admons
afsigns to be by them pofsefsed held & applied upon & for the same trust
& for the same intents & purposes as are hereinbefore directed respecting
the said sums of four hundred & fifty pounds & six hundred pounds
bank annuities & to pay transfer or afsign
out other third part thereof unto the said Thomas Glanville to & for his own use & benefti & to pay transfer or afsign
the remaining third part
thereof unto the said Burgefs Glanvill be a for his own use & benefit
but in case of the death of the said Burgefs Glanvill to & for his own
use & benefit in my life time then & in such case I direct my said
& xecutors to pay transfer & afsign the said remaining third part to the
said Thomas Glanvill Charles Creed & William & dwards to be by them
held & applied as to the moiety thereof upon such & the same trusts
& to & for such & the same & nds interests & purposes as I have hereinbefore
declared concerning the said sum of two hundred pounds five
per cent navy bank annuities for the benefit of my said grandson
Alfred Charles Glanvill & otherwise as hereinbefore is mentioned & as
to the other moiety thereof upon such & for same trusts & to & for
such & the same & nds interest & purposes as I have hereinbefore
declared concerning the said sum of five hundred pounds five per cent
navy bank annuities for the benefit of my said grand daughter
Caroline & lizabeth Creed Glanville & otherwise as hereinbefore is
mentioned and whereas the several pecuniary bequests & dispositions
by this my will made are so made upon the supposition that at
the time of my decease I shall have sufficient stock of the different
denominations specified & mentioned in such pecuniary bequests
dispositions are aforesaid to satisfy & answer the same *** therefore I
do hereby declare my will & mind to be that if in consequence of
any variation alteration or transposition of my stocks funds &
securities which shall or may take place during my life time it shall
so happen that at the time of my decease I shall not have or be intitled
unto sufficient stock of the different denominations specified & mentioned
in such pecuniary bequests & dispositions as aforesaid to satisfy & answer
the same that then & in such case the deficiency shall be made good by the
& xecutors of this my will by with & out of my personal & state & & ffects &
such sum or sums of money as shall or may be requisite for that
purpose shall with all convenient speed after my decease be raised &
applied accordingly & I declare that it shall & may be lawful for my
& xecutors respectively for the time being to pay adjust settle & compound
all debts *** from me & any demands made upon me upon such
*** or terms as they or he shall think proper to admit or
also provided always & I do hereby declare my will & mind to be
that the receipt & receipts in writing of the trustees or trustee for the
time being of this my will for all & & very or any of the trusts interests
& purposes hereinbefore & xprefsed declared & contained for any sum or
sums of money whatsoever payable to them respectively by virtue of
this my will made & ffectually discharge the persons to who the same
shall be given from sewing to the application or being answerable for
the misapplication of the money therein mentioned to be received
provided also & I do hereby further declare my will & mind to be
that if & ither of the trustees hereby appointed or to be appointed as
hereinafter mentioned shall depart this life or become incapable of
*** or decline to act in the trusts of this my will then & so often as it
shall happen it shall & may be lawful for my & xecutors for the time
being by note in writing to be signed by them him or her to
appoint one or more person or persons to be a trustee or trustees in
the room of the trustee so dying or becoming incapable or declining
or refusing to act & thereupon the said several & respective trust funds
securities & premises shall in such manner as occasion shall require
be transferred to & vested in the trustee or trustees solely or jointly
with the surviving or continuing trustee as occasion shall required &
& very such new trustee ahave such & the same powers authorises &
discretion as the trustee in whose room he shall or may be so
substituted as aforesaid & shall & may act in the & xecution of the
trusts in the same manner as the trustee in whose wroom he shall
be so substituted as aforesaid might have done if he had continued
to act therein provided always that the trustees hereby appointed
or so to be appointed as aforesaid shall not be answerable the one for
the other of them or for involuntary lofses & that is shall & may be
lawful for them to reimburse themselves their costs & & xpenses in
discharging their trust In witnefs whereof I the said Sarah Glanvill
the testatrix have to this my will & testament & to a duplicate
thereof & ach written & contained in ten sheets of paper to the first
nine sheets set my hand & to this tenth & last sheet thereof have set

Burgefs Glanvill executors hereof I give & bequesth all & every the stocks
ffunds & securities sum & sums of money debts leashold property and
other personal estate of whatsoever nature or kind or or to which for
any person or persons in trust for me shall be intitled at the time of my
decease unto the executors of this my will but neverthelefs upon & for
the trusts intents & purposes herinafter exprefsed & declared touching &
concerning the same that is the say) In the first place to pay satisfy
& discharge with all convenient speed after my deceased my ffuneral
expenses & all such debts as shall or may be justly due & owing from
me unto any person or persons whomsoever on due account whatsoever
and in the next place with such convenient speed as aforesaid to satisfy
& discharge the seveal pecuniary bequests & dispositions in this my
will hereinafter make & directed that is to say) I do hereby order
& direct my said executors to pay transfer or afsign unto my said son
Thomas Glanvill the sum of one thousand pounds three per cent
Reduced Bank Annuities to & for his own use & benefit I do hereby
also order & direct my said executors to pay transfer or afsign unto
my said son Burgefs Glanvill the like sum of one thousand
pounds three per cent Reduced Bank annuities aforesaid as & for his own use
& benefit I do hereby also order and direct my said executors to pay
tranfer and afsign unto my worthy ffriends Thomas Armstrong of
Bishops Walk Lambeth coal merchant James Tucker of Pedlars Acre
in the same parish Smith & my said son Thomas Glanvill or the
survivors or survivor of them & the Exors & Admons of such survivor
the sum of ffive hundred pounds like three per cent reduced bank
anns to be by themleves (?) & applied upon & for All trusts
intents & purposes hereinafter exprefsed & declared touching & concerning
the same that is the say) upon trust that they the said Thomas
Armstrong James Tucker & Thomas Glanvill their exors & admons do
& shall during the natural life of my daughter Maria Jemima
Creed the wife of Charles Creed pay the interest dividends & annual
produce of the said ffive hundred pounds bank annuities to such
person or persons & for such purposes as she the said Maria Jemima
Creed shall from time to time by any writing under her hand
appoint but not so as to dispose of the same by sale mortgage or
charge or otherwise in the way of anticipation or in default of such
appointment unto her own proper hands for her own sole & separate us
independent of her present husband or any future husband with whom
she shall or may happen to intermarry and from & after the decease
of the said Maria Jemima Creed so & shall pay transfer & afsign the
said ffive hundred pounds bank annuities to such person & persons & for
such intents & purposes as she the said Maria Jemima Creed in her
life time notwithstanding her present or any future coverture shall
by any writing under her hand appoint or in default of such
appointment and in case the said Chares Creed shall survive
the said Maria Jemima Creed do & shall afsign & transfer the
said ffive hundred pounds bank annuities unto the said Charles
Creed and in default of such appointment as aforesaid & in case the said Charles
Creed shall die in the life time of the said Maria Jemima Creed
then do & shall afsign & transfer the said ffive hundred pounds bank
anns unto all & every the children of the said Maria Jemima Creed
who shall be living at the time of her decease if more than one
equally to be divided between & among them & if there shall be but one
child who shall survive her then the whole to such only child & in case
there shall not be any child of the said Maria Jemima Creed living at
the time of her decease than do & shall transfer the said ffive hundred
pounds three pounds per cent reduced bank annuities unto her exors or
admons I do hereby also order & direct my said executors to pay transfer
or afsign unto the said Thomas Armstrong William Edwards of
Westminster Road musical instrument make & my said son Thos
Glanvill their executors or admons the sum of ffive hundred pounds
three per cent reduced bank annuities to be by them held & applied
upon & for the trusts interest & purposes hereinafter exprefsed and
declared touching & concerning the same that is to say) upon trust
that they the said Thomas Armstrong William Edwards & Thomas
Glanville their Executors Admons & afsigns do & shall in the mean time
& until my grandson Alfred Charles Glanvill son of the said Burgefs
Glanvill shall have attain his age of twenty one years pay the
interest dividends & annual produce of the said last mentioned sum of
ffive hundred pounds bank annuities into the said Burgefs Glanvill
in order that that the same interest dividends & annual proudce may
be applied for or towards the maintenance benefit or education of
the said Alfred Charles Glanvill or otherwise do & shall be the
same applied accordingly & when & so soon as the said Alfred
Charles Glanvill shall have attained his age of twenty one year
thereforward & until he shall have attained his age of twenty
f our years do & shall pay the interest divident & annual produce of
the said last mentioned sum of ffive hundred pounds bank annuities
unto the said Alfred Charles Glanville & his afsigns to & for his &
their own use & benefit & as soon as the said Alfred Charles Glanville
shall have attained the age of twenty four years do & shall pay
transfer & afsign the said last mentioned sum of ffive hundred pounds
bank annuities unto the said Alfred Charles Glanville his Exors Admons
& Afsigns but if he shall happen to depart this life under the age of
twenty four years then do & shall immediately upon & after the decease
of the said Alfred Charles Glanville under such age pay transfer afsign
the last mentioned sum of bank annuities unto the said Burgefs
Glanville his Exors Admons or afsigns I do hereby also further order &
direct my said excutors to pay transfer afsign unto my said wife
Sarah Ganville & the said Thomas Armstrong & James Tucker their
Exors or admons the sum of ffive hundred pounds five per cent Navy
Bank Annuities to be by them held & applied upon & for the trust
intents & purposes hereinafter exprefsed & declard touching & concerning
the same that is to say) upon trust that they the said Sarah
Glanville Thomas Armstrong & James Tucker their exors admons
do & shall during the life of the said Sarah Glanvill pay unto or
authorize & permit her the said Sarah Glanvill & her afsigns to
retain during her life the interest dividends & annual produce of
the said ffive hundred pounds five per cent navy bank annuities
to & for her & their own use & benefit and from & after the decease
of the said Sarah Glanvill do & shall during the life of the said
Maria Jemima Creed pay the interest dividends & annual
produce of the said last mentioned bank annuities to such persons &
for such purposes as the said Maria Jemima Creed shall from
time to time by any writing under her hand appoint & not so as to dispose
of the same by sale mortage charge or otherwise in the way of
anticipation of in default of such appointment into her own hands
for her own separate use independent of her present husband or any
future husband with whom she may happen to intermarry and after
the decease of the survivor of them the said Sarah Glanvill & Maria
Jemima Creed do & shall stand & be pofsefsed of & interest in the said
last mentioned bank annuities & the interest dividends & annual produce
thereof in trust for all & every the children & child of the said Maria
Jemima Creed who being a son or sons shall attain the age of twenty
one years or depart this life under that age havingn ifsue one or more
child or children of his or their body or respective bodies living at the
time of his or their decease or respective deceases or living a daughter or
daughters shall attain the age of twenty one years or marry & to
be divided between or among such children if more than one in
equal shared & if there shall be one such child alone the whole
to buy in trust for that one child & after the decease of the survivor
of them the said Sarah Glanville & Maria Jemima Creed & ***
the whole of the said last mentioned sum of bank annuities
shall become vested in such child children or ifsue as aforesaid do and
shall pay & apply the interest dividends & annual produce whereof
unto & for the benefit of all & every the childrn or child
for the time being o the body of the said Maria Jemima Creed
for or towards their maintenance or benefit equally between or
amongst them if more than one and if there shall be no children
or ifsue of the said Maria Jemima Creed who shall become intitled
to the said last mentioned sum of bank annuities under the trusts
hereinbefore declared of & concerning the same then I do hereby direct
that the said trustees or trustee for the tim ebing do & shall
after the decease of the survivor or them the said Sarah Glanvill
& Maria Jemima Creed & such failire of ifsue of the body of the
said Maria Jemima Creed as aforesaid hold (?) & be pofsefsed of & interested
in the said last mentioned sum of bank annuities & the internest dividents
& annual produce thereof upon & for the trusts interests & purposes following
that is to say) as to for & concerning a full undivided
moiety or equal half part thereof in trust for my son the said Thos
Glanvill his exors admons & afsigns and as to for & concerning the other
individual moiety on equal half part thereof on trust for my son the
said Burfefs Glanvill his exors admons & afsigns provided always &
I so hereby declare will my & mind to be that it shall be lawful for the
said trustee or trustees for the time being during the lives of the said
Sarah Glanvill & Maria Jemima Creed & during the life of the survivor
with the consent of them the said Sarah Glanvill & Maria Jemima
Creed or of the survivor of them & after the decease of such survivor at
the discretion of such trustee or trustees to raise & apply all or any
part of the expectant portion or provision of any child of ifsue of the
body of the said Maria Jemima Creed as aforesaid whose portions or
provisions shall not then be payable and under the trusts aforesaid for his or
her preferment advancement or benefit also I do hereby further order and
direct my said executors to pay transfer or afsign the sum of one
thousand pounds three per cent reduced bank annuities unto my said son
Thomas Glanvill & the said Thomas Armstrong & James Tucker their
executors & admons to be by themselves & applied upon & for the trusts
interests & purposes hereinafter mentioned that is to say) upon trust
that they my said trustees or the survivors or survivor or them or the
executors or admons of such survivor do & shall pay the interest
dividends and annual produce of the said last mentioned sum of
bank annuities unto the said Sarah Glanvill & her afsigns during her
natural life & from and after her decease so & shall pay transfer
& agsign the aid last mentioned sum of bank annuities unto my said
son Thomas Glanvill his exors admons or afsigns also I do hereby
further order & direct my said exors to pay transfer or afsign unto
my said son Burgefs Glanvill & the said Thomas Armstrong and
James Tucker their exors admons or afsigns the sum of ffive
hundred pounds five per cent navy bank annuities to be by them
held & applied upon & for the trusts interests & purposes hereinafter
mentioned that is to say upon trust to pay the interest dividends
& annual produce of the said sum of ffive hundred pounds five per
cent navy bank annuities unto the said Sarah Glanvill & her afsigns
during her life & from & after her decease upon trust to pay tranfer
or afsign the said last mentioned sum of bank annuities unto my said son
Burgefs Glanvill his exors admons or afsigns & as to for & concerning all
the residue & remainder of my stocks in the ffunds sum & sums of money
goods chattels personal estate & effects of whatsoever nature or kind
which shall be & remain after satisfying the trust interest & purposes
of this my will hereinbefore exprefsed declared & contained I do hereby give
& bequeath such residue unto my said dear wife Sarah Glanvill to & for
her own sole & absolute use & benefit and whereas there is now standing
in the name of my said wife Sarah Glanvill solely in the books kept by
the governor & company of the south sea house for the purpose of
registering the transfer of theuir stocks or ffunds the sum of one thousand
ffive hundred pounds old south sea anns which I do hereby declare is
her sole & separate estate & property to be at her disposal the same
having been produced from the bequest made to her by her father
& the accumulations thereof & then is also standing in the joint names
of myself & my son Thomas Glanville in the said books of the
governor & company of the south sea house the sum of seven hundred
pounds old south sea anns which is his sole & separate property & is to
be transferred to him his exors admons or afsigns the same having
been produced by his industry & by an investment & accumulation
from time to time of his salary & there is also standing in the joint
names of myself & my said son Burgefs Glanvill in the books of
the governor & company of the bank of england kept for registering
the transfer of bank annuities two hundred pounds five pound per cent
navy bank annuities & in the books of the governor & company of the
south sea house aforesaid the sum of seven hundred & thirty sevend pounds
two shillings & vlven (?) pence old south sea anns which sums
respectively are his sole & separate property & are to be transferred to
him my said son Burgefs Glanvill his exors admons or afsign the
same sums having been also produced by his industry & by an
investment & the accumulations of his salary and whereas I am also
intitled to various sums of the stock or ffund commonly called the
three per cent reduced bank annuities & of certain other parliamentary
stock or public ffunds now standing in my own name and whereas
the several pecuniary bequests & disposition in trust by this my will
made as hereinbefore mentioned & exprefsed are so much upon the
supposition that at the time of my decease I shall have sufficient
stock of the different denominations specified & mentioned in such
pecuniary bequests & disposition in the to satisfy & assure the same
now therefor I do hereby declare my will & mind to be that if in
consequence of any variation alteration or transposition of my stocks
ffunds & securities which shall or may take place during my life
time it shall so happen that at the time of my decease I shall
not have or be intitled unto sufficient stock of the different
denomination specified & mentioned in such pecuniary bequests &
dispositions are aforesaid to satisy & assure the same that then in such
case the deficiency shall me made good by the exors of this my will
by with & out of my personal estate & effects & such sum or sums of
money as shall or may be requisit for that purpose shall with all
convenient speed after my decease be raised & applied accordingly and
I declare that it shall & may be lawful for my exors respectively for
the time being to pay adjust settle & compound all debts reclaimed from
me and my demands made upon me upon such *** or terms as they
or he shall think proper to admit or allow provided always & I do hereby
declare my will & mind to be that the receipt or receipts in writing of
the trustees or trustee for the time being of this my will for all & every
or any of the trusts intents & purposes hereinbefore exprefsed declared and
contained for any sum or sums of money whatsoever payable to them
respectively by virtue of this my will shall effectually discharge the
persons to who the same shall be given from suing to the
application or being answerable for the misapplication of the money
herein mentioned to be *** provided also and I do hereby further
declare my will & mind to be that if any of the trustees hereby
appointed or to be appointed as hereinafter mentioned shall depart this
life or become incapable to acting or declining to act in the trusts of this
my will then & so often as it shall happen it shall & may be lawful
for my exors respectively for the time being to appoint one or more person
or persons to be a trustee or trustees in the room of the trustee so dying
or becoming incapable to act or declining or refusing to act & thereupon
the said several & respective trust ffunds securities & premises shall in
such manner as occafsion shall required be transferred to & vest in the
new trustee or trustees solely or jointly with the surviving or continuing
trustee or trustee as occafsion shall require & every such new trustee
shall have such of the same powers authorities & discretion as the trustee
or trustees in whose room he shall or may be substituted as aforesaid & shall
& may act in the execution of the trusts in the same manner as the
trustee in whose room he shall be so substituted as aforesaid might have
done if he had continued to act therein provided always that the trustees
hereby appointed or so to be a appointed as aforesaid shall not be answerable
the one for the other of them or for involuntary lofses & that it shall
be lawful for them to reinburse themselves their costs & expenses in
discharging their trusts in witnefs whereof the said Thomas Glanvill
have to this my last will & testament contained in nine sheets of paper
set my hand & seal (that is to say) my hand to the first eight sheets
