first day of July in the yeare of our Lord God according the the church of
England Anno Doe 1650 I John Glanvill of Newton Abbot in the County of
Devon Clothier being sicke of body but of perfect mind e memory thanks be to god Doe make
this my last will and testament in manner and forme following Imprimis I
comend my soule into the hands of Almighty god who gave it me Trusting in my
Saviour Jesus Christ That I shall rise againe at the day of ind*ent in that glorious
resurection with the saints in heaven. And my body to the earth from whence it
came And all my wordly goods wherewith god hath endowed me I difpose of them
as followeth, Item I give and bequeath unto Nicholas Glanvill my sonne all
my right chayme and interrest which now I have or ought to have during the
life of Grace Glanvill now my wife with all my good chanttells sperralties debts
and all creditts whatsover (provided) that the said Grace Glanvill my wife
and mother to the said Nicholas shall have the use of the said house and goods
dureing the time of her widowhood (and not longer) And then the said house
and goods is to returne to the said Nichols Glanville, my sonne And if the said
Grace remains unmarried until the said Nicholas shall accomplish the age of
eighteen yeares Then the said Grace my now wife shall pay unto the said Nicholas
the sume of twenty pounds of good and lawfull money of England And six
pounds per Annus yearly to be paid quarterly by equall portions The first
payment thereof to commence and take his beginning the first quarter after the
accomplifhment of the age of eighteen yeares of the said
Nicholas. Item I give and bequeath unto Roger Langworthy my godsonne ten
shillings to be paid him within twelve months after my deceafe by my executrix
My will and intention is to make the aforesaid Grace Glanvill my wife my
executrix of this my will and teftament Moreover I doe depute conftitute ordaine
and appoint my trufty and welbeloved freind in Christ Thomas Glanvill of
Newton Abbott yeoman and Thomas Gotham of Eaftogwill Clothier to be my
lawfull Attourines to see this my will and teftament performed according to the
tener hereof And for their paines taking therein I give them three shillings and
poure pence apeece. And for any other lawfull and necefsary charges which the
said Attournies shalbe charged with to set this my will performed My desire and
will is that they or one of them shalbe allowed out fo the foresaid goods and chattells
