James Howell Glanville Snr

Male, ID #27444, b. 18 October 1938, d. 24 April 2015

Birth, Marriage and Death information

James Howell Glanville Snr was born on 18 October 1938 at Whitewright, TX, USA.
He died on 24 April 2015 at Houston, TX, USA, (when age calculated as 76); with obituary:
James Howell Glanville, Sr.
1938-2015
James Howell Glanville, Sr., born on the 18th of October 1938 in Whitewright, Texas, died on Friday, the 24th of April 2015 in Houston. He was 76.
Jim was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, loyal friend, intrepid businessman.
He died peacefully at home after a multi-year standoff with diabetes and cardiovascular disease. He remained loving, generous, persistent, stubborn, and brilliant to the end. Jim Glanville was a force of nature.
With a career in commercial and industrial real estate that spanned over 50 years, Jim left his indelible mark on the Houston real estate scene, especially in deep water port developments in Houston and Texas, on a landscape of local and global partnerships, and on the careers of many professionals he mentored. He shared his talents through executive leadership and long, active membership in HAR, SIOR, CRE, and outside of industry as a board member and benefactor to numerous area schools, the Houston Library, and other public boards. He was a proud veteran of the Army Intelligence Agency. From his first paycheck as a pre-teen news commentator five days a week on "A Child Speaks" to his last six years before retirement as the top broker at Colliers International in Houston, Jim worked tirelessly to provide for those he loved.
To friends and colleagues, Jim was loyal and generous to a fault. In business, he had a special knack for deal making and problem solving with a focus on creating a "win-win" for all parties involved. The one exception perhaps was in his avid game playing with family and friends in which he remained quietly (well perhaps not quietly) relentless in winning. In all that he did, he exemplified integrity and persistence mixed with brilliance. Above all, Jim deeply loved his family, took great pride and joy in his children and grandchildren, and most especially was devoted to his spouse of 53+ years.
Jim is survived by his beloved bride, Jill Suzanne Dreyfus Glanville; four children and spouses, Cherlyn S. Glanville, James H Glanville Jr. and his wife, Eva Chittenden, Shawn M Glanville and his wife, Julie Mortensen Glanville, Nicole Glanville Ederle and her husband, Brendan Ederle; nine grandchildren, Heather C. Glanville, Andrew W. Glanville (Drew), Patrick D. Glanville, Pierson J. Ederle (Pierce), Lila C. Glanville, Cameron G. Ederle, William C. Glanville (Liam), Genevieve M. Ederle, Thomas C. Glanville (Tommy); siblings: Bruce Glanville, Susan Howell, Charlotte Taylor; extended family, Maria and Sandra Nunez, Zenaida Castillo, and Juana Meza; and many other beloved family members and friends.
A memorial service celebrating his life is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, the 28th of April, at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, 717 Sage Road in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests that memorial contributions in his name be directed to the charity of one's choice ; or to the Special Operations Fund, 901 North Stuart Street, Suite 200, Arlington, VA, 22203.
