THE sudden but peaceful death of David Glanville (Dave) occurred at his home in Whitehill, Cresselly on July 20, just a week after the death of his father Ronald.
Born in Tavernspite to the late Audrey and Ronald Glanville, Dave was brought up in Llanteg and attended Amroth Primary School and Whitland Grammer School.
On leaving school Dave worked for the National Westminster Bank before training to become a teacher at Trinity College Carmarthen.
During Dave’s teaching career he taught in schools in Kent, Birmingham and Cardiff before returning to Pembrokeshire where he taught at the Special Needs Unit of St Florence School and at Portfield School Haverfordwest.
Dave was a man of many interests including sport, music, books, steam trains and walking.
However, Dave’s greatest interest was bird watching.
He was a keen and knowledgeable birdwatcher who travelled widely in the pursuit of this interest.
A family man, Dave loved spending time with his family and pets.
Dave’s friendly personality and sense of humour endured him to many, and he will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
The family left to mourn are Juliet Glanville (wife); Sandi Glanville, Paul Mortimer and Harry (daughter, partner and grandson); Helen Glanville and Oliver Lewis (daughter and partner); Pam, John and Emily Mason–Williams (sister, brother-in-law and niece) and Tom the Dog.
A joint service was held at Parc Gwyn Crematorium Narberth for David and his father Ronald and was officiated by the Rev Hywel Brown and the Rev David Gooding.
The bearers were Dave Neale, Peter Howe, Aled Williams, Brian Jones, Jan Scheeres and Ray John.
There were family flowers only but donations may be made if desired to the British Heart Foundation and The Paul Sartori Foundation c/o E. C. Thomas and Son, Zoar Chapel, Llanteg, Narberth SA67 8QH who carried out the funeral arrangements.

GLANVILLE David and Ronald Suddenly at his home, Fairview Cottage, Whitehill, Cresselly, Kilgetty, on Sunday July 20, David, aged 66 years; cherished husband of Juliet, loving father to Sandi and Helen, doting Grandad to Harry, loyal brother to Pam. Peacefully at Woodland Lodge Residential Home, Tenby on Sunday July 13, Ronald Yorke, aged 92, affectionately known as ‘Ronnie’ of Seaford, Llanteg; beloved husband of the late Audrey, dearly loved Dad of David and Pam and the late Peter, much loved father-in-law to Juliet and John, cherished Grandad of Sandi, Helen, Emily and Great-Grandad to Harry. A joint funeral service will take place on Monday July 28, at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth at 12.15pm. There will be family flowers only, with donations, if so desired, for The British Heart Foundation and The Paul Sartori Foundation, c/o E C Thomas & Son Funeral Directors, Zoar Chapel Funeral Home, Llanteg, Narberth, who are conducting the funeral arrangements.
