James G. Salts, 78, of Spooner passed away Saturday, July 25, 1998, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Fort Snelling, Minn.He was born Jan. 11, 1920, to Ralph E. and Agnes (Garvey) Salts in Pittsburgh Pa., and was raised there. He was a veteran of World War II serving six years in the Navy. On Oct. 31, 1944, he married Shirley Glanville in Superior.They lived in Houston, Texas, Coraopalis, Pa., and then in South Range, where he was employed with Minnesota Power & Light. They moved to Spooner in 1961 and he was employed as an electrical lineman with the city of Spooner until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of the Dodge-Gilbertson-Carlson VFW Post 1028, Spooner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son, Gary James in 1947. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; a son, Thomas of Bristol; daughters Marilyn (Terry) Vraniak of Fairbanks, Alaska, Sherrill (Douglas) Dysart of Estacada, Ore., Patricia Farb of Rhinelander, Wis., and Nancy (Frank) Mallinak of Redmond,Wash; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters Katherine Danzey of Phoenix and Margaret Wynn of Coraopolis, Pa; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, and 9 until the 10 a.m. service Thursday in Scalzo Funeral Home, Spooner. Interment following in the Veterans Memorial
Cemetery, Spooner. Military rites by Spooner Area Veterans Honor Guard.
