DEATH OF MR. H GLANVILL
SAW SIXTY-TWO DERBIES
The death of Mr. Henry Glanville, of Anyards-road, Cobham, took place suddenly on Tuesday night at the age of 73. Mr. Glanvill, who had recently returned from a holiday, was apparently in his usual health until Tuesday evening, when he complained of feeling unwell. He retired to rest, and died suddenly about ten o'clock.
Mr. Glanvill was a well-known figure in the village, and his genial personality will be much missed. He had seen the Derby run on sixty-two occasions, having first witnessed it sixty-fours years ago. Mr. Glanvill, who retired from business some thirteen years ago was for 33 years the licensee of the Fox and Hounds, and his father kept the Crown Inn - now closed - for nearly half a century. In his younger days Mr. Glanvill was a prominent cricketer, and for many years assisted the Cobham Village Club, afterwards acting as umpire.

Megan Elizabeth Glanville
Female, ID #749, b. 8 December 1986, d. 21 December 2011
Birth, Marriage and Death information
Megan Elizabeth Glanville was born on 8 December 1986 at N.T. Enloe Hospital, Chico, CA, USA.She died on 21 December 2011 at UC Davis Medical Center, Sacramento, CA, USA, (when age calculated as 25); with obituary:
While running in the predawn hours of Dec. 21, 2011, Megan Elizabeth Glanville was struck by a motorist near her apartment in Davis, CA. She died shortly thereafter at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, CA. She is mourned and missed by family and friends.
MEG was an "easy" child from the start, conveniently arriving to her parents (at least to her dad) at 8 p.m. on December 8, 1986 at N.T. Enloe Hospital in Chico, CA.
A delightful and happy infant, she started her "schooling" in the Family Child Care home of Paul and Marilyn Caldwell just a few blocks from the Chico State campus.
Her formal education began at Sierra View Elementary School, where she blossomed under the attention of many fine teachers. There was a special place in her heart for her 6th grade teacher, Dean Passinisi.
Megan was in the first class of students to attend Hank Marsh, Jr. High School, where Jeff Sloan, whom she admired, was principal. She excelled in many disciplines but she had a special talent for drawing, which was nurtured by teachers Ann Erpino and Cookie Dellavou. She was pleased when her Duck Stamp entry won third place in the 2001-2002 Federal Junior Duck Stamp Program and is pictured in their March 2002 Calendar.
Characteristically, when her parents, Brad and Kathy, divorced, Megan found the silver lining in the situation and decided that she was really lucky now to have two Christmases and two birthdays and two bedrooms and two sets of neighbors. Her father later married Kris Zappettini and the entire family of Dudley and Milly Zappettini welcomed her with open arms.
She made many friends while attending Pleasant Valley High School in Chico, including her chemistry teacher and mentor, Barbara Bertapelle. Much to her father's delight, she took up cross country running for PVHS and spent many hours training via "Z Killers" in upper Bidwell Park. Running did not come easy, but Megan was not one to back away from a challenge. Most recently she placed in her age group in the annual Bidwell Park Almond Bowl and the Oceanside Turkey Trot 5K footraces.
She attended UC San Diego and Leiden University (Netherlands). The southern California location was a good fit for Meg; when home-sick she could visit or stay with her San Diego grandparents, Donald and Roberta Eidemiller. After graduating cum laude from UCSD, (March, 2009) and elected to Phi Beta Kappa, she enrolled in the King Hall School of Law at UC Davis, where she was a Witkin Award recipient and scheduled to graduate in May 2012. "She was well-liked and well-respected at the law school" said one of her law professors, Lisa Ikemoto.
Megan enjoyed billiards, Frisbee golf, downhill skiing with her Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Jim Skelley, writing, traveling, drawing, and camping with the Zappettini family and later the P.A. Lopez family at Wild Plum Campground near Sierra City, CA. The Zappettini's helped consume the many trout she netted and introduced her to "firepies" which she looked forward to each year with great anticipation. She did not partake of trout until Ian Lopez created "Trout a La Ian" (trout cooked in pesto sauce), which proved irresistible. Two other loves of hers were cribbage ("fifteen two") and animals, especially horses. She trained to ride Western for many years and did so at the college level for the UC San Diego Tritons.
Megan loved her mother's long-time companion, Len Fulton, of Paradise, CA. He helped sharpen her critical thinking and writing skills and she was grateful for his unending patience and interest in her school work. He was most certainly her "other" dad and she missed him grievously upon his passing last summer.
Although Megan had no siblings, Alice Stark (Calaveras County) and Sofie Burton (Chico) were as close as sisters to her and she considered Tim Fulton (Paradise) to be her older big brother.
She had her eye on Jeffrey Michael Wilson of Carlsbad, CA and intended to marry him. Her parents thought that Jeff was an excellent choice and she knew that.
In her 25 years, MEG was self-driven and achievement oriented, yet very concerned with the wellbeing of all living creatures. She had a huge heart, a warm smile and an unending wry sense of humor.
Please join the family in a celebration of Megan's life: Saturday, January 28, 2012 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Chico Area Recreation District (C.A.R.D.) Community Center, 545 Vallombrosa Avenue, Chico.
Donations in her honor can be made to the Megan Glanville Fund, UC Davis School of Law, 400 Mrak Hall Drive, Davis, CA 95616, or to the Butte Humane Society, 2579 Fair Street, Chico, CA 95928.
