Arlene A. Glanville, 77, of Holyoke Massachusetts, passed peacefully into the afterlife on Friday October 29, 2021. Arlene was born in Holyoke on February 12, 1944 to George and Lorraine Miller. She was educated in the Catholic Schools of Holyoke and was a graduate of the Precious Blood High School. After high school, Arlene began working in the Payroll Department of the Philip Hano Company in Holyoke where she met the love of her life, Terrence H. Glanville. They were married in Holyoke on May 25, 1964 and began a lifelong journey together that lasted more than fifty-six years. Their journey was filled with love, respect, dedication, and memories that couples can only hope to have when they begin their life together.
Together, they were most proud of their children. They taught them hard work and love of life by example. Arlene leaves her husband Terrence (Terry) and her children. Annie Stutts and her husband Phillip of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; Tim, of San Francisco, CA; Mike and his wife Stephanie of AZ; Dan and his wife Faith, of Holyoke, MA; and Terry and his wife Michelle of North Granby, CT. Arlene and Terry were predeceased by their son Chris in 1995. While a terrible trauma to both, it strengthened their love for each other. Arlene adored her grandchildren. She leaves, Erica Martins, Nicholas Glanville, Alexander Glanville, Marley Glanville, Christian Glanville, Parker Stutts, Olivia Glanville, Vincent Glanville and Tara Fredenburgh. She also leaves a great grandchild, Lucas Martins.
Arlene worked for more than two decades as the school secretary of Blessed Sacrament School in Holyoke. She worked under the leadership of Sister Louise Thomas, with whom she built a lifelong friendship. After she and Terry generously helped to educate their children, Arlene proudly and courageously decided to attend college herself. She graduated with honors from Holyoke Community College and then attended and graduated from Mount Holyoke College as a Frances Perkins Scholar. Post-graduation, Arlene was very proud of her work in the social services field.
No doubt that Arlene celebrates the afterlife with long missed friends and family. Her family takes great solace that she passed peacefully and will join the many that she has missed in later life.
