It was while living with her aunt in Madison that Peggy met and later, on Jan. 24, 1945, married her husband of 58 years, Thomas R. Glanville, who was stationed at the Army Air Force base there. In November of that year she gave birth to her first daughter, Sherra Lee.
After the war, Peggy and her husband and daughter moved to Long Beach, Calif., where she was employed as assistant manager for the Currie Ice Cream Co.During this time, she resumed her hobby of swimming and was subsequently selected by the Esther Williams Aquamaids.She trained with this group for several months, but when she found that she was pregnant with her second child, Peggy decided to settle down and be a loving wife and mother.However, she did find time to compete, along with her partner husband, in duplicate tournament bridge, where she earned a master's card.She also excelled in golf, winning the California Frank Cormaci Tournament in her second year of competition.
The mother of six children, Peggy participated in all of their extracurricular activities from Girl Scouts with her three daughters to Cub Scouts, Little League baseball, Pop Warner football and bowling with her three sons.
For many years, Peggy was listed as a breeder in the American Kennel Club of America.She raised St. Bernards and at one time campaigned her top champion dog in California shows and the National Specialty show in Illinois.She was a longtime member of the St. Bernard Club of America and for several years was editor of the St. Bernard Bulletin, published monthly in Southern California.
In 1970, Peggy and her family moved to Plains.There, she was a department manager at the McGowan's Mercantile.She was also a lifetime member of the Plains Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post No. 3596.
