For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When in charge of a forward signal station this officer displayed great coolness and determination in handling a difficult situation, and it was largely due to his untiring efforts that communication was maintained throughout the day. He personally supervised the repairing of all lines under continuous shell fire.

     In 1930 he was listed as an Associate Member of the Electrical Engineers (A.M.E.E.E) with an address c/o Lloyds Bank, 6 Pall Mall, London.

     On 2 November 1943 He claimed a patent (GB Patent 557023). Abstract of GB557023 557,023. Electric telegraph transmitters. GLANVILLE, G. G. July 23, 1942, Nos. 10328 and 13536. [Class 40 (iii)] An impulse generator which may be operated by a morse key comprises an armature D carrying or surrounded by one or more coils E and capable of small oscillating movements limited by four pole-faces, or by stops closely adjacent to them, each movement of the armature causing a reversal of the flux through the coil or coils. In the form shown, a U-shaped magnet A carries pole-pieces B1, B11, and the armature is fitted with a knob and spring to serve as a morse key. Several armatures co-operating with the same or separate magnets may be used.
