Donald Frederick Glanville

Male, ID #29503, b. 4 April 1937, d. 27 May 2018

Birth, Marriage and Death information

Donald Frederick Glanville was born on 4 April 1937 at Hamilton, ONT, CAN.
He died on 27 May 2018 at Grimsby, ONT, CAN, (when age calculated as 81); with obituary:
Obituary for Donald Frederick "Don" Glanville
On Sunday May 27th, at four in the afternoon, this lovely, gentle soul passed. His great strength of spirit amazed all who cared for him during his final days. Don was known to find the humour in any situation and to put others first. He was not a loud man, in fact the opposite is true. He would watch and listen. If there was a job to do, he would do it, and he enjoyed helping others. Don loved the quiet things in life: rowing at the lake, fishing, golfing, scuba diving, making wine, and growing tomatoes. As a boy growing up in Hamilton, he learned how to survive. Street smart and business savvy, he knew how to adapt and thrive facing a myriad of life changes and directions, which led him to the love of his life, Emma. They raised three children, and never wavered as they worked together to build a magical world - they lived it to the fullest. During his health struggles over the past few years, Don always faced his challenges with dignity and respect for those around him. The comments from his caregivers were about how gentle and likable he was. And this is indeed true. He loved life, and he always loved a Merlot and pie of any kind. For Don these were simple honest delights and he loved to share with those around him. A good life and a hard fight to the end. You went quietly and with great care surrounding you. You will always be remembered for your generosity, humour, wit and kindness. And for your deep devotion to Emma and your family and friends. You will be missed and always remembered. Please raise a glass of your choice and celebrate this loving, great man with a smile, and the next time you have some pie, have a bite for Don!

Memorial donations to Huntington's Canada in lieu of flowers are appreciated. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Burlington on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.

William Kent Glanville
January 23, 1947 ~ June 1, 2022
Born January 23, 1947 in Ogden, Utah to William Harrison and Bonita Faye Clark and raised in Ogden. His parents divorced when he was a toddler, and grandma met and married the man who would raise dad as his own son, Claude Glanville. Claude formally adopted Kent when dad was in first grade, and from that time on he was known as Kent Glanville. His youth was spent growing up on Monroe Avenue, playing baseball at the park close to his home. Dad was an excellent ball player; his position was catcher and with his small stature and fast legs he was a natural! He attended Ogden High School, participating on the baseball team and earned a letterman sweater for his athletic ability on the team. He graduated from OHS in 1965.
One day on a baseball field he met a country girl named Lillian Elayne Christensen and on October 22, 1966 they were married for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple. Dad was attending Weber State College at the time, receiving an undergraduate degree in Chemistry. He was also in the Army and was trained for the war in Vietnam by the Army Corps of Engineers in Knoxville, Tennessee. While he never served in Vietnam, dad remained in the army for many years, traveling the country from post to post until he became a college professor at Weber State College in the mid-1970s. Dad received his Masters degree and Doctorate (PhD) degree from Utah State University in 1975 in Chemistry. His dream at the time was to work in Bowling Green, Kentucky for an oil company. But the Lord had other plans for him, and mom and dad settled in West Weber, Utah where dad became a professor at Weber State College teaching Police Sciences and Criminalistics. Dad and mom later separated although they never divorced.
Dad loved law enforcement, and within a few years of teaching police science and assisting in running the Utah State Crime Lab that was based at the College at that time, he attended the police academy in Salt Lake City and became a law enforcement officer. Dad took a job in Logan, Utah as the city criminalist and also as a street officer for North Logan and Hyde Park. Dad loved his jobs and made many lifelong friendships during this time. He was well known throughout Northern Utah, Southern Idaho, Western Wyoming, Southern Nevada, and parts of California as “Doc.” One of his greatest accomplishments during this time was the establishment of the Drug and Alcohol Task Force for the five county Northern Utah area, Southern Idaho, and Western Wyoming. He loved every minute of being involved in this endeavor and seeing the impact that his team made in the lives of everyone in the counties involved.
In 1988 an opportunity presented itself for him to join the United States Government as a forensic chemist for the Drug Enforcement Agency based in Dallas Texas. Dad seized the opportunity and spent nearly 35 years fighting the war on drugs the absolute best that he could. He made many friends during his years in the DEA, received many awards and recognitions for deeds he accomplished that were above and beyond the level of service required of his position. Dad never wanted any recognition for the incredible accomplishments he made and the contributions he made to the world of science and criminalistics and the destruction of drug cartels running product into our country. He took immense pride in being an instructor at the DEA Academy which was based at the FBI Academy in Quantico Base, Virginia and followed those individuals he taught, calling them “his kids” and watching their careers and families develop.
Dad met Evelyn Jay during his time as a Vice Officer in Utah. She became the big love of his life, and they spent 34 years together before he could convince her to marry him. They traveled this country together, sharing their love of law enforcement and NASCAR racing. They finally tied the knot in February of 2020 but sadly he lost her six days later to the complications of lymphoma.
Dad did not die as he intended to nor as he should have. Instead of a bullet from a bad guy taking his life, he lost his life to his love of the alcoholic beverage called beer. An alcoholic from a young age, he spent many years enjoying life and the good things in life while enjoying his favorite alcoholic beverages before the damage from the drink became apparent. He died on June 1, 2022 in Grapevine, Texas due to complications from Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome.
Dad was preceded in death by his biological father, William H. Clark; his mom and dad, Bonita Faye Glanville and Claude Glanville; brother-in-law, David Miller; sisters-in-law, Diane Christensen and Linda Christensen Butler; and his wives, Elayne and Evelyn.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeannie and grandson, Christopher Lee of Euless, Texas; sisters, Debbie (Lynn) Martineau and Cheryl Miller of Ogden, Utah, and Tina (Ed) Smith of Salt Lake City, Utah; sisters-in-law, Gayle (David) Culver of Troutdale, Oregon, Janice (William) Mather of Spartanburg, South Carolina; brothers-in-law, Joseph (Sharon) Christensen of Sandy, Utah, John Christensen of Riverdale, Utah, Clark Butler of Deweyville, Utah, and Blake (Jill) Christensen of Tremonton Utah and a numerous amount of nieces and nephews who looked up to him and loved him as he was.
A memorial service will be held on July 28, 2022 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Please join us and share your memories of my dad with us.
Services in the Dallas Fort Worth area will be held in September.
Condolences may be sent to the Glanville Family 805 E Huitt Ln Euless, TX 76040.

Birth, Marriage and Death information

Lillian Elayne Christensen was born on 7 October 1947 at Tremonton, UT, USA.
She married William Kent Frost, son of William Harrison Clark and Bonita Faye Frost, on 22 October 1966 at Logan LDS Temple, UT, USA, (when age calculated as 19 years and 15 days.)
She died on 17 June 2019 (when age calculated as 71); with obituary:
Lillian Elayne Christensen Glanville, age 71 graduated from mortality on June 17, 2019. She began her earthly tenure on October 7, 1947 in Tremonton, Utah, the 4th daughter and 6th child of Conley P and Lorna Daisy (Barfuss) Christensen. She died the way she lived, independent and strong.
Elayne has always been a Bear River Bears fan, even through those years that she lived away from Tremonton during the time she was married to William Kent Glanville. She was a beautician at heart, and loved to change her hair colors and make up styles frequently. Many knew her as “Blondie” at Greer's Hardware Store, or as “Blake's Sister” and enjoyed her wit and friendly banter when they would encounter her in the store or on the street. With a smile and a hug for everyone, she was a shining example of Christ like love in her community.
Beloved by many children of the Tremonton 9th ward for many years, she in turn felt strongly about every single one of “her” primary kids. Elayne always wanted a big family, but that was not in the Lord's plan. Instead He provided her endless love and endless mothering opportunities both in the extended family and in the Young Women's and Primary Programs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Elayne was preceded in shedding her mortal body by her parents Conley and Lorna Christensen, one sister Linda Butler (Clark), a sister-in-law Diane (John) and many beloved cats and dogs. She has left behind an intriguing and adventurous daughter Jeannie Christen Lee (Karry) of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and the cutest grandson to bless the earth, Christopher Michael Lee of Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Also left in her wake are 3 brothers, Joseph (Sharon), Christensen of Sandy, Utah, John Christensen of Riverdale, Utah, Blake (Jill) Christensen of Tremonton, Utah; two sisters Janice (Bill) Mather of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Gayle (David) Culver of Troutdale, Oregon.
A screening of her favorite program will accompany the viewing, which will be held at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, Utah on Friday, June 21, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A short viewing (without the cartoons, alas) will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 9:30 am to 10:30 a.m. at the Tremonton South Stake Center 1150 S Tremont Street. At 11 a.m., her daughter invites everyone to attend a program featuring memories from her spectacularly wise brothers and her entertaining daughter in the Tremonton South Stake Center. By her request, we will be rocking out to The Spirit in the Sky during the interment which will be at the Riverview Cemetery following the program. A party will then ensue at the Tremonton South Stake Center, provided by the Tremonton 9th Ward Relief Society.
In the words of her favorite program..”bedep bedep bedep, That's All Folks!”.
