This is the last will and testament of me Joanna Adams of Ashburton in the County of Devon widow which I publish and declare as follows. I give and devise my five tenements or dwelling houses in West Street Ashburton which were lately the property of my sister Miss Glanville unto Solomon Tozer the younger of Ashburton aforesaid serge maker and Joseph Skinner of Caton in Ashburton aforesaid yeoman and their heirs to the uses hereinafter mentioned that is to say I give and devise the house number one now occupied by Mr Chapple unto my cousin John Couch Halse of Ashburton aforesaid his heirs and assigns for ever the house number two lately occupied by my said sister to my cousin Rebecca Baker widow her heirs and assigns for ever the house number three now occupied by Miss Monday to my cousin Roger Halse of Devonport his heirs and assigns for ever the houses numbers four and five now occupied by Miss Griffin to my cousin Roger Glanville of Ashburton his heirs and assigns for ever And I request the said Solomon Tozer and Joseph Skinner to keep the title deeds of the said houses in trust for the said several Devisees or to deposit them for safe custody in whose hands they shall think proper

     She was buried on 16 March 1837 at Portsea Cemetery, Portsea, HAM, ENG, Elizabeth Maddock relict of Joseph Maddock, recorded age 82.

Other information

     Clearly there is a problem with Elizabeth's mother's birth in 1755 and her own marriage to Joseph in 1777. Further difficulties lie in the baptisms of Elizabeth/Joseph's children 1784-97 but marriage of the 1797 baptised Elizabeth in 1806 (according to Records of the Anglo Norman House of Glanville 1050-1080 AD.)

SALEM - Evelyn R. Harter of Salem died on Tuesday, May 16, 2006 in Salem. She was 87 years old.Evelyn was born on August 11, 1918 in La Junta, Colorado. She was the daughter of Carlen and Mary Glanville. As a young girl she moved with her family to southern California and lived there until she moved to Riddle, Oregon as a junior in high school. She graduated from Riddle High School. She then attended Pasadena Community College in California. While in high school she met her future husband, Lee Harter. He was a teacher and a coach at Riddle High School. She married Lee on October 30, 1937 in Riddle. The primary work she did was homemaking, although she did work at Richmond Elementary School in Salem for several years and at Lipman’s Department Store for 13 years. She and Lee raised three sons.She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family as well as reading, knitting, crocheting, walking and gardening. She was a member of the West Salem United Methodist Church.She is survived by two sons, Al Harter of Keizer and Jim Harter of Monmouth; daughter-in-law, Sally Harter of Seattle, Wash; two brothers, Carl Glanville of Homer, Alaska and Donald Glanville of San Leandro, Calif; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Lee; by her son, Grant; by her brother, Ben; and by her sister, Kathryn.Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Sat., May 27, 2006 at the Capital Manor Retirement Center, Salem. Private inurnment was at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Salem. Memorials in her memory may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Weddle Funeral Home, Stayton.
