Lieut. Col. Samuel Glanville was born illegitimate between 1785 and 1786 at Ottery St Mary, DEV, ENG.He was baptized on 5 January 1786 at the parish church, Ottery St Mary, DEV, ENG, Samuel S of Thomas Glanvil by Tryphena Channon, indicating his parents were not married.
He married Eleanor Vassall before 1819 although it appears no formal marriage took place.
He died on 14 February 1862 at Manchester, Middlesex Co., Jamaica.
His estate was probated on 31 May 1862 indexed as:
1862 GLANVILL Samuel, late of Green Vale, Parish of Manchester, Jamaica who died on 14 February 1862 at Green Vale. Will with two codicils proved at London on 31 May by Thomas Glanvill Esq. of Alphington House, Ottery St Mary, Devon, Samuel Glanvill Esq. of the same place, Francis Hall Esq. of Blue Hays, Broad Clyst, Devon and Tryphena Hall (wife of the said Francis Hall) the general executors, under £25,000.

On 4 October 1829 he was listed as Lieut. Colonel in charge of Manchester Militia, Jamaica.Circa 1835 he was awarded £1101 4s 6d as compensation for slaves in Manchester Jamaica.
In 1840 at Manchester, Middlesex Co., Jamaica, was recorded as Samuel Glanville proprieter of properties Green-Vale 2150 acres, Norway 1500 acres.
